Who cares if he's only had nine pro fights? If he's ready, he's ready, and if he isn't we'll find out.

For me, Canelo, Benavidez and Morrell are the top three at 168lbs and any way you match them up, I'm happy.

I guess you're right, althought not too many call the island "La española" no more, the use Quisqueya, the original Taino name a little bit more. Be safe

I don't disagree with anyone who says that this is not the best fight for Benavidez. I wouldn't advise him to take it either if I was on his mgmt team. I am arguing against anyone who has a problem with Morrell Jr calling Benavidez out. Anyone who has watcehd him kmows that Morrell is good enough to challenge Benavidez so why wouldn't he call him out? Why wouldn any fan not want to see it - especially considering that Canelo doesn't seem interested. I wouldn't mind seeing Benavidez - Mungo throw down and it would undoubtedly bring more money than a Morrell fight, but I think Benavidez - Morrell Jr is a better overall matchup.

Quisqueya is only in Dominican Republic, not the entire island. The entire island is named Hispañola or La Española. Nobody refers to it by that name but that’s the name. Similar to how PR, Cuba, DR and the other carribean islands are located in North America, and “Central America” doesn’t geographically exists, but the islands are referred to as Central America, when they are actually North American countries.

I’m part Taino, I was actually part of a small ancestry research group which consisted of people with Taino in them. I was in the group that started the research.

I have a lot of Dominican friends, that's why I know about the Quisqueya, and we study about it when I was in 6th grade. Pretty sure the Island was occupied by Tainos, so the whole Island was called that. The Dominicans named one of their district Quisqueya and they stayed with the Taino's name. The french claimed that part of the country, but before the European set foot there, the Tainos called the Island Quisqueya. I don't remember if it was Colon who named la Española or the Crown, but definitely Spain.

I understand Morrell's frustration but he has to understand that boxing is a business. He needs more time to help develop and build his brand before calling out fighters.

He is too high risk and low reward. Outside of boxing fans; Nobody even knows him or have heard of him before. Besides, Jamie Munguia is the more high profile, easier and beatable opponent either way.

I had a long stay there some years ago. In Cuba, the government promotes politeness, nationalism and to be pro Latin America. Once the Cubans leave the island to be " free " ( to make money with the advantages that Uncle Sam gives them ), for the most part they change. Even drugs are not a problem in Cuba, nor you see the amount of homelessness that you see in the States.

You used to have high rates of crime, prostitution, racketeering, ********, drugs, almost no universities, a high rate of iliteracy, nthe play ground of te USA and a tyrannical government. That is why there was a triumphant revolution.

Stf, you don't know what you're talking about. We have more prostitution than ever, for pennies, we had real universities in every province and the ******** and drugs are everywhere in the world, and the saddest thing is that you can work your a$$ and still can't find anything to eat, only the few people on top are living. Doctors get by with things patients bring them. Please, don't talk about what you don't know. It pains me to see young people coming here that don't know how to write properly, don't know their history, much less from other countries. Iliteracy? There's more now than ever. Revolution? Assasins that's what they are.
