roger had good power and sweet pea was kinda winded for a bit....

if you open up, it gives opportunities to get countered... that doesn't take away from sweet pea's all around game.

of course not.... but look at sweet pea... as he went up in weight he didn't change up styles.... he didn't go from a combination puncher to a potshotter.

I'm sure I have some degree of bias since sweetpea is a fave of mine and i don't much care for Floyd, but im going to say Pernell as well... I rate evasion higher than blocking defensively since there's been guys who've had success ****ing away on peoples arms (like Marciano... I'd love to see Floyd go into his shell against a guy like that who's happy to smash him on the arms or shoulder all night). Also I love me some body punching and sweetpea is clearly superior in that department.. and I know Floyd has very good all round skills but he doesn't use them in his fights anymore... Pea would fight inside, outside, in the corner, against the ropes, whatever... made his fights lot more fun to watch, at least to me... he also would take the tough fights, and while Floyd took some risks earlier in his career.... what have you done for me lately

I'd have to give the slight edge to Mayweather...but damn, watching sweetpea slip and slide punches like hes dancing at the night club was always a joy to watch. Whitaker is one of my all time faves for sure.

Sweet Pea. Did it against better opposition. Can't imagine him being forced to do what Floyd did iN Castillo 1 & 2. ****, his performance against a prime Oscar was almost as good as Floyd's against an old one.

Its really close and tough to tell. Floyd is better technically, from defense to offense. However Sweet Pea's southpaw style and natural reflexes allowed him to do things we have rarley seen before, in terms of his ability to slip and dodge punches. It is close because one is more representitive of honed raw ability (Pea) while the other is technical supremacy (Floyd).
I love them both and always enjoy watching them fight.

floyd is a great defensive boxer but sweet pea is a great all around boxer.

floyd barely opened up against a much smaller LW (marquez) at WW when floyd was atleast a MW (155-160 lbs).

just imagine what sweet pea would've did.
