  • Comments Thread For: Bivol on Stalled Talks With Canelo: He Just Wants to Find Some Excuses for Himself [Not to Fight]

Dmitry Bivol feels Canelo Alvarez is trying to negotiate himself out of a potential rematch. The Russian light heavyweight titlist adamantly believes that the Mexican superstar was never truly serious about entering into a rematch because of the intransigent way he has apparently conducted negotiations thus far. Bivol defeated Alvarez last year in what was a title defense of Bivol's WBA 175-pound belt. Since then, Alvarez has repeatedly signaled his interest in a rematch.

The negotiations have to start from somewhere plus where is Bivol is going to make as much. If they are serious in fighting each other they really have to negotiate privately and not through the media.

In a few of my prior post, I've said that Canelo doesn't the rematch. My intuition appears to be right. He is a hype job!

If Canelo wanted the fight, he would try to lure Bivol into the rematch with better terms. That isn't happening. Canelo's whole team does not want this fight. Canelo is publicly pretending he wants it, but actions speak louder than words.

the winner of a fight gets better terms than they got in the first fight for a rematch, thats obvious

i was wondering why canelo was so bullish about the rematch & was saying im surprised he wants it so bad, now it looks like he has a trick up his sleeve to walk away from it, hope im wrong tho but usually rematches are easy to make, just up the offer to reflect your loss

Canelo has always been a master of finding ways to avoid or delay fights. Whether it was insisting on a 155 pound catch weight and a low ball offer for ggg, having a franchise title created to not fight his mandatory charlo, using the “you’re a horrible fighter” excuse to not fight fellow mw champion at the time Andrade, saying “he only beat 1 champion “ to justify not facing Benavidez. But then when you see who he has fought instead, you know he’s full of shet.

Canelo claims about a rematch really don't make any sense.

He has publicly stated time and time again that he doesn't care what his critics say, that some people will always dislike him and now he claims he doesn't want to fight Bivol at 168 because "people will start talking **** and won't give him credit for a win"
Isn't the point avenging his loss first (and in the process he can affirm he is still king at 168) ?

Secondly, IF by some miracle he manages to beat Bivol at 168, there of course will be a trilogy (catch weight?) which would be massive AND he could silence those 'weight-drained-critics'.
Why fight GGG three times and not Bivol...?

I'll add: At any weight class under "normal circonstances" ... That's pretty obvious...
