      The thing is, he did beat Sadam Ali and Liam Smith in consecutive fights. By no means pound for pound greats, but Ali was a reigning world titlist at the time and Smith was a former titlist coming off 3 straight wins after taking his first career loss to Canelo.

      But after those two fights Munguia stepped down considerably in competition and never stepped back up again. 11 straight fights against mostly awful competition. Probably the best win in that span was against Szeremeta, who took the fight on short notice and was 6 months removed from getting KO'd by Golovkin.

          he did not say he is gonna retire, just that it could be his last charge for a title but even that, i dont think is true, the middleweight division is not super deep, zhanibek, probably the best in the division , and even at 37 i would say him vs likes of liam smith, eubank, ammo williams, are very competitive fights
