The main reason Usyk is signing with a big money promoter is to give greedy belly more incentive to actually fight instead of running away. Usyk already said he'd fight for free if it would make the fight, and took the 70-30 split. If Fury can't be in on the biggest heavyweight event of the decade, it's going to be abundantly clear that he doesn't want the fight and he should vacate and retire.

I think 70-30 for Usyk in the re-match is only fair. He would have had to win the first fight to get there ... and I think that would raise Usyk's visibility and interest enough that he would be as much of the draw as Fury (who would be the former champ at that point). When you lose there is (at least temporarily) a changing of the guard. The purse should reflect that. Refusing to sign for a match because you can't leverage the re-match terms is not fair or sporting. Being demoted (by force) into being the challenger, I'm actually surprised Fury had a problem with that contract term. Must be all the industry "experts" around him poisoning his thinking.

Any honorable warrior who was vanquished as champ would welcome earning the title and the (larger) pay that comes with it. Just like the challenger accepted it in the first place to get the opportunity to win the spoils.

This is another one of those things that make football, basketball, and baseball superior to fans than boxing. Players who have performed and earned their contracts have that all sewn up when the games start (in theory) ... and the "Teams" all get paid the same for the actual game. Last year's champ can't leverage the league for more money .... and the games MUST and WILL be played ... no contract BS holding up the show.

I know that would be a big change for boxing. But it's fair and would make boxing a more sporting sport, that more people could respect.

It's not for Usyk. It's for the WINNER of the fight. If Fury wins the fight, he gets 70 in both. But instead he's insisting that Usyk is worth only 30 as the undefeated unified champion but will be worth 50 as a defeated contender. Tells you how confident he is in winning against the "middleweight."

Right ... for the WINNER, which could have been Fury. But he wanted 50/50 in the rematch ..... <thumbs down>.
It's wrong when Clenelo does it, when AJ did it, and anyone else ...

It's classic ducking. Crazy when he says Usyk is being greedy when he's actually potentially giving Fury MORE money. The only way Fury loses money is if he loses the first fight. Which is just loser mentality.

Fury is ducking. Usyk doesn't duck anyone. Too much skills.

Fury looks like a duck and sounds like a duck . . . must be a duck.

Greedy eh..? What about just plain ole’ not really trying to fight? Anyone… Tyson Fury is just a side show circus act used car salesman at this point. He’s more interested in trying to make a headline story of why he turned down a fight than making history in a fight.
