Canelo only gave Smith 5 weeks notice for the fight, then wondered why he performed as if just picking up a cheque. Despite this, the thread is still full of Canelo slurpers eager to give him more credit

If it was flipped and Canelo only given 5 weeks notice, he has no time to juice, can't get into shape in time, his stamina is even worse and who knows what happens.

Your boy got schooled by Bivol and ducked the rematch multiple times. The fact that somebody else he beat has been praised by Beterbiev's trainer to help hype a fight is pretty meaningless in that context, but I guess you gotta come up with something when your guy prefers fighting 40 year olds and Ryder instead of facing the best.

No, it wasn't one of the toughest fights of his career and he wasn't stunned several times, and if he was down on the scorecards, it's because he was in England. He's just trying to make it as if Smith has a chance when he doesn't, because we all know how this fight's gonna end.

Beterbiev's trainer is trying to fool the boxing fan's into believe that Smith has an even chance of winning this fight.
But after Smith's horrible outing against Ryder, and Canelo, I don't see how Smith would be able to defeat the devastating punching Beterbiev.

Smith looked underwhelming against Ryder and poor against Canelo. But I suspect the stuff about him struggling to make weight at SMW was true. He does carry a lot of power, he's a big guy and Buddy McGirt is a good trainer for the type of fighter he is. I think Beterbiev probably still goes through him, but you never know.

Smith is dangerous because of the left hook and because Beterbiev has been caught with it on numerous occasions.

So yes it is a dangerous fight from that perspective.

However, from experience, most fighters tend to revert to type when the going gets tough and Callum Smith gets backed up easily and rushes his work when pressured. He also gets into a firefight easily too.

His last fight with Bauderlique showed how willing he was to engage in a toe to toe battle and he also got caught a few times too. A more compact and measured fighter like Beterbiev would create and exploite lots of openings.

Cue the sensitive and emotional Canelo fans somehow making this about them too.

One thing you can always count on with a Beterbiev fight is proponents of his opposition trying to rationalize why Beterbiev WON’T maul them, and then Beterbiev proceeds to do that very thing.

Smith can punch, but I foresee a duplicate of the other Smith scrap.

Promoters gotta make it sound less "murder-y" so the fight can sell, you know..
