Why Didn't Vegas Rob Bivol When He Fought Canelo?

Manny v Bradley 1 was more competitive than people remember or realised. The biased commentary was a disgrace.
But I think they could have, just like Manny vs Bradley. I am wondering if it was due to the betting in Vegas. That too many had put too much money on Bivol at the end. I wonder what the odds were at Draftkings for the rounds. I bet it was like a -1,000 at the end. Maybe that had something to do with it. The betting. Too many people would have come down on the casinos.
I had Manny winning but Bradley won a lot of that second half of the fight and Manny was missing a lot. He was hitting fresh air a lot and the commentary team were acting like he was connecting.
Go watch that fight without commentary and really pay attention to the action and forget what you think happened. You'll see a very close competitive fight and Bradley sweeping the majority of rounds in the second half.
As I said, I still felt Manny won but it was a close one when you watch it properly and without other influences.
Canelo on the other hand won about 2 rounds v Bivol. They couldn't even rob him because it wasn't competitive.Last edited by deathofaclown; 05-29-2023, 09:34 PM.Comment

90% of the boxing world disagree with what?
Ninety percent of the boxing word disagrees with you there. As I said before, in no world does one body punch equal three head snapping punches.
The difference with Bivol is that you cannot find 10 percent of people saying Canelo won that fight.
Actually, I just realized something. That was a Matchroom card. I suspect Hearn and Matchroom do not have the connections with Las Vegas that the American companies have with Vegas.
Still does not explain the weird cards, however.

it was so one sided that it was hard to give rounds to Canelo. Striking forearms and shoulders hardly counts

This right here.
They actually did rob him. All 3 judges scoring it 7-5 looks close that Canelo had a chance to win. A fight like that warrants a rematch .
This fight was 12-0. Clear dominating performance by Bivol that doesnt warrant a rematch.Comment

Might also have something to do with the fact that it was a Matchroom/DAZN fight and not Top Rank or PBC. Someone's got to pay to fix the fight after all, and I'm pretty sure Eddie spent the whole budget on paying Canelo. Probably didn't think he needed to fix the fight either. They clearly tried to give it to Canelo anyways though.Comment

Nothing would have happened.
do you think it was due to Bivol being so convincing and that to let Canelo keep the belts would have been too unbelievable? Had Canelo walked away with the belts, what do you think would have happened? Do you think it would have been such a huge scandal that it would be nearly impossible to deny robbery? I might have to look at the fight thread on here and see what people were saying.
Just like nothing happened when sweet pea dominated Chavez Sr. and didn't get the win.

12-0? I don’t see that.
I had it 8-4 Bivol. I actually think 7-5 Bivol is plausible but there’s 7 clear rounds for Bivol.Comment
I had to struggle to give Canelo three rounds. What I find odd is that all the cards were scored the same way (unless I'm misremembering the cards). Maybe that supports the theory of front loading?
