It's all about dialects. My Aunt is from Glasgow and her son in law (my cousin's husband) of 10+ years is from Alabama and he still has a hard time understanding her.

**** though, from watching the video I could tell there was a big difference between the Cuban and standard Spanish.

            wrong.

most of the people i encounter/see speak ENGLISH with their friends, those are the americanized hispanics or americans of hispanic descent, the ones who don't care to learn the language are the FRESH OF THE BOAT ones.

I have spoken to people from virtually every single Spanish speaking country and I can understand them, including Cubans, I just think Casamayor is not very bright. He should have been able to understand the "conventional" Spanish translator.
While there are variants and different words that will be difficult to recognize, for example, a Spaniard might not know a Chilean slang term, but they can still communicate easily, Casamayor has no excuse really.

Sorry this is not about Boxing anymore.

I live by Tamiami Park (next to where they held the fair exposition),

it's an area that 96% of the residents are Hispanics, some refuse to learn English, the ones who know English are the ones who have lived in the country for a long time, and the ones who were born here.

but overall, people speak more spanish than english.
