Comments Thread For: Lomachenko: After The Lopez Loss, I Could Have Gone Down; I Can't - 135 Took My Dream

There was a brief moment where those responsible for mapping out Vasiliy Lomachenko's future suggested a return to the 130-pound division. It was considered after Lomachenko's competitive but clear defeat to Teofimo Lopez in their October 2020 lightweight

Fast combinations. Haney doesn’t see the third or fourth punch coming. Linares, a guy Lomachenko stopped years earlier, had Haney in all kinds of trouble in the final rounds.

I never want to take away from the Lopez win, but Loma made it easy on him. Barely threw any leather in the first 5 rounds. Crazy.

Lomachenko needs to fight with a sense of urgency from the weigh-in on.

Lomachenko would be a beast at 130lbs, that’s where he should be. Going back down to your weight class isn’t a show of weakness. Lomachenko is about to fight a guy who can make 147lbs lean, unbloated. Haney wouldn’t even be close to an undersized welter.

Idk why that’s seen as better than fighting in your appropriate weight class. He’s missing out on ruling 130.

He has overachieved at 135 by beating good mid tier guys like Linares, Commey, Pedraza, Campbell, and Nakatani, but I think that’s as far as he goes at 135.

I hope to be wrong, I pray Lomachenko KO’s Haney hard, humiliates him.

By your logics you could also say,”haney twice dominated the guy who dominated lomachenko”This is pro boxing. Haney gonna bhop him.

Linares only had that round with Haney , Linares was a great fighter he gave Loma a great fight too , I felt the stoppage washout of order ref stopped too early

I thought so too at first but upon rewatching it it became clear how devastating those body punches by Loma were. I have a feeling Haney is going to find out real soon
