Man, you got it bad. No one in this thread has said anything about Charlo except YOU!!! He's not even in their divisions and has been inactive for almost 2 years. This thread has NOTHING to do with him. Feels like you might be one of those people that lives under the bridge and curse out invisible friends while sipping the cheapest malt liquor available.

I find when the argument is weak, the insults come out.

Your logic doesn't tally up. Bivol can be the better, more fundamentally sound of the two and still prefer a bigger ring.

If what you were saying was true, then Bivol would find it harder to beat him if the ring was made bigger. Clearly this is nonsense.

Thanks to Sulaiman, Bivol can't fight at 168 for all the belts either. WBC will block that just like they're blocking the Beterbiev fight. He should probably just go for the biggest cut he can manage and take the money for crushing Canelo again. In this case it's nonsense from WBC, because he's already spoken against the war, and if Sulaiman wants the war ended, he needs to encourage more Russians to speak against the war.Comment

I am deeply sorry about the insults mate but you are an acting like a casual fan right about now by making all of these simple-minded presumptions and hypotheticals. Let me try to spell it out to you all over again. Canelo cannot defeat Bivol under any circumstances or no matter what the size of the ring is.

Dmitry is just that good and so much better than Alvarez. The bottom line is, Canelo is not coming to win this fight because he knows he can't win it. It's a face-saving move to prove to boxing fans that he is not a coward. He is coming to lay down and quit so he won't get his ass whupped.Comment

I appreciate you having the class to apologise about the insult.

I'm not acting like a casual, though, you're just perceiving it that way. I made a throwaway comment that was mainly a dig at Canelo for opting for such a tiny ring against Ryder, but all things being equal, I stand by the contention that a smaller ring plays to Canelo's advantage more than a bigger ring -- note that I'm not saying Canelo is going to do this or that he is going to win.

I would add, though, that whatever Canelo may be, he isn't ****** enough to line up a fight simply to lay down. The excuse that 175lbs was a bridge too far was always there for him. If he seriously pursues the rematch (as I've posted before, I'm not even convinced the fight will happen), I would expect him to have some stratagem in mind to try and at least improve on the previous fight. A smaller ring would at least tip things in favour of what has to be his best shot at a win, which would be to increase the amount of opportunities to fight on the inside. Bivol is the favourite and maybe Canelo cannot beat him. What's certain is that Canelo will never win a fight where Bivol is able to engage when he chooses and then utilise his ring craft to move out of danger. I don't think it follows then that Canelo loses worse with a smaller ring.Last edited by Monty Fisto; 05-09-2023, 05:33 PM.Comment
