That wasn't a title fight, so it doesn't matter. It was exactly as advertised: a catchweight. If a title were on the line, it could only be for 140 lbs and up.

Any title fight they need to weigh in at, or under, the divisional limit. Technically someone with a death wish could weigh in at 103 for a cruiserweight bout, but a lightweight champion will lose the belt on the scales at, say, 135.3.

The rules have been consistent that way for at minimum decades.

Only heavyweight doesn't have an upper limit AFAIK, although I think there's slightly different rules for amateur boxing (Olympics), since there's also a super heavy class there.

LOL dead man walking... Silly ginger-peds just signed his own execution warrant. This time Bivol will fight way more aggressively as he has already shared a ring with Canelo so will know extra ways to dish out punishment. This fight is definitely not going the distance. Canelo will get hurt multiple times throughout, he'll get exhausted again and he'll get knocked out between rounds 8-12.

It's gonna take a truck load of street tachos to beat Bivol at 175.

but fair play to the ginger one if he takes bivol on again at that weight and i think bivol deserves a good payday, i dont think he did that well from the first fight cash wise

for some reason i just dont think the rematch happens, not sure why
Clearly, because no matter what Canelo says in public out of bravado, his team know he's isn't beating Bivol all the time he has a hole in his ass.

He’s not beating Bivol at 175 or 168 and him and his team know that

For all the critics, Canelo deserves a lot of credit. Willing to fight probably the best light heavyweight in the world, again.

Of course, he knows he's going to beat up Ryder. Who knows though, it might surprisingly go the distance. But yes, not anyone really wanting to see that fight.

Bivol gave him that opportunity to be great, now Canelo should give Bivol the same opportunity at 168 in return. Sunk in yet???
someone thinks canelo wants to lose cuz he has built in excuse LMAO...

So we’re going to ignore the fact that Canelo is holding the 168lb belts hostage till 2024 and the all alphabet bodies let him do this last year as well?

Canelo’s career has been stale ever since the move to DAZN, his PPV numbers have been abysmal except the Plant fight which was a fight the fans actually cared about and he getting overpaid since Eddie Hearn is infatuated thinking Canelo was going to make them $$$ and that’s not the case. Not even the boxing world cares about this fight this weekend, only Canelo man fans do.

he only picked bivol to begin with because beterbiev was too much for him and would have knocked him out. he chose the light punching boxer because he thought he could steal a decision from him, and he almost did with those horrible cards. i give him credit for taking a tough fight, but he did so strategically. beterbiev could be old enough soon for canelo to fight(ggg style) but canelo's not even fighting the lesser beterbiev version at 168 in benavidez. what a weird cherry picker
