this fight is worthless to bhop. it's a payday for him.

rjj is shot. but if rjj somehow wins or makes hops look bad, hopkins will never hear the end of it.

if it was a payday then why would he donate all his tune up proceeds to charity, eh?

If Joe Calzaghe got no credit, why should Bernard? Unless he knocks him out. Which is...highly unlikely.

Hopkins' last 5 fights were a lot more competitive than Jones' last 5. People still view Hopkins as a top P4P fighter today whereas Jones' isn't on a single top 10 P4P list. I will give Hopkins credit if he wins but a Jones' will look a lot better as Hopkins looked great against Pavlik. People will often bring up how Jones' is washed up and shot if he loses. I'm a huge RJJ fan, he is one of my favourite fighters and I believe prime vs prime he beats a lot of opponents but Hopkins is at a higher level right now. When you lose your reflexes all you have is the basics and Roy was never taught the basics. I will give Hopkins credit for the win but I wouldn't look at it as a huge win.

"Roy was never taught the basics" NO disrespect... probably the dumbest thing Ive ever read on here.

Day 1: Roy Jones: 9 Years old... Dad begins to show him how to fight....

"Ok Roy, now I'm not going to show you the jab, I am going to show you 7 left hooks in a row instead..."-Roy Sr.

Roy never learning the basics, and not using them to fight, are two completely different things.

                Anyways.

Bernard should get probably less then average credit, which is more then no credit...

Surely nobody can expect a lot of credit, right?

Realistically... Roy hasn't beaten an actual top fighter since tarver I in 2003. Bernard is number 4, on the P4P list right now.

I mean these are just facts. All fanboyism aside and all that ****, this is just where they are at in their careers.

On another note, both fighters should be respected with this match.. there's no reason to **** on either fighter... we know what Roy used to be, we know what he's done.. we know what he could do, and the same goes with bernard... these two fighters have had legendary careers and will be talked about for decades and decades...

This is just a good fight for the fans, and as Natas said.. this is just to see who is better NOW.... which SHOULD be Bernard, based on everything.

This is like the Joe fight for me, I have the same stance... I can see Roy winning, I can see how he can do it... but he probably SHOULDNT based on everything. The other intangible is Bernard being inactive for so long and at his age.. but if he takes a tune up then that's real good for bernard, and we can see how they look in their tune ups.

I think us fans should just enjoy this fight, try not to **** talk so much... just enjoy it.

Roy-Bernard fans dont have to be like, Floyd-Cott-Pac fans.... just ****ting on eachother every day over and over... I don't see the need for that...

These guys are at the end of their careers... just enjoy it.

So he might get a little credit, but not a lot.

On the other hand, if he were to lose, even though he himself is 45 years old, prepare for the "hopkins has always been overrated!" "Jones OWNS Hopkins always & forever!" etc. etc. etc. type threads.

At the end of the day this is a grudge match that the fans wanted. That's all it is, this fight was made based on popular demand. All it proves is who is better NOW.
i like these 2 fighters but i will give full credit to this almost 50 year old man ,hopkins is incredible

I am certain that Hopkins will get more respect beating Roy Jones than Calzaghe did.

Will avenge the one clear loss he's had his entire career. Would mean something in my book.
