Which just shows what would have happened if he had gotten in there with Pacquiao.

Interesting comparing this fight Hopkins-DLH. Oscar put effort into his acting job as he oversold the bodyshot, whereas Garcia went for more of a deadpan 'hurry up and count to ten so I can get up' approach.
mettle.
We can debate the physiology of this body shot all day, but it's perhaps more important to access the psychology of Garcia during the post-bout interview:
"Did you think you could continue?"
"Yeeeeeeeahhhhhhhh... but...."
"What was going on internally, were you having trouble breathing?"
"I'm not gonna say nuthin', but yeah, yeah, I couldn't breathe."
Analyse the candescence of his voice, everything. I'd never personally get in a boxing ring, and I don't particularly knock the kid for it - he's still a dish in my eyes - but the tone, phrasing, pausing... it suggests a kid who quit.Comment

Yeah, we needed him shouting out "I can't breathe!" while breathing.
Oscar got an oscar that night.Comment

It’s a weird one. I feel like if he just got his legs underneath him he would have been able to stand up and continue. He was ok walking around like 2 seconds after he was counted out.
if I’m honest I lean towards your view, it was a choice. He doesn’t have in him what Gatti did. Gatti’s body shut down when Ward landed that perfect left to the body but he still forced himself to get up. Garcia wasn’t in anywhere near as bad a state imoComment
