Joe Calzaghe said the same thing before signing the deal to fight Roy Jones Jr.

In the end, Hopkins, like Joe, want the name on their resume because it's an ATG name even if the Man was killed many years ago. If you can't beat him in his prime, wait until he is in the grave to dig him up and fight him.

I really hope for a spectacular Jones win, so Hopkins can retire in shame.

Hopkins is a very good fighter and would be competitive with any 160-175 in history but all his best wins are barely note worthy (Tito, DLH, Winky etc - would all have been decimated by Calzaghe).
He fought a young Roy Jones jr. and lost. Not that big of a deal.

          Taylor: Past his prime

          Calzaghe: past his prime

Hopkins started to slow after a certain point and his stamina declined which is why we saw less and less punching and him slowly building up to a fight. I was actually worried Floyd Jr. was following the same pattern but I'm not positive with him.

Calzaghe would have lost to Roy because despite Joe's punch-out-put, he still leaves himself open. Something Roy would have seen and countered with combos back in the day. Roy had legs {which goes with stamina} back then as well. One big thing with me with a Roy vs. Joe fight, prime vs. prime, is if Roy would use his jab it would be a lot easier. If he doesn't, a lot closer.
