Bernard Hopkins: "I Will Put Roy Jones Jr. To Sleep"

Roy is a dead man. On a side not though, I don't see why so many Jones fans are complaining, when a few weeks ago they were saying how hopkins was trying to wiggle out of negotiation, and now that the fight is signed, and Hopkins is taking shots at jone you want to bring up other things.Last edited by street bully; 09-28-2009, 09:54 AM.

[QUOTE=BIGPOPPAPUMP;6208476]Some people still can't believe it. Sixteen-years later, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr. are ready to get in the ring to fight for a second time. The first bout in May of 1993 was won by Jones via a twelve round decision to pick up the vacant IBF middleweight title. Last week they finally signed the necessary documents for a second meeting in the first quarter of 2010. Jones still has to beat IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green on December 2 in Austalia. Hopkins plans to have a tuneup fight in Philadelphia, also on December 2.
This should be a good fight. No advantages to no one. I have to give the edge to Hopkins only because he fights defensive and has never been knocked out. Roy Jones couldnt do it in 93' wich says a lot. He has also been in with tougher opposition lately, well known fighters, and he has won some of those fights. If Roy Jones comes in looking anything like he did before Hopkins is going to have a long night. Roy Jones should also have a psychological advantage from his win, maybe. Both Hopkins and Jones know how to sell a fight, and there is an interest in the fight because your not going to see a young fighter up against an old fighter wich could be one sided. These are two great old fighters and it will be a good fight, long overdue.

Bernard Hopkins never beat a fighter in his whole life who had the same or more handspeed and footspeed like him. And if he did they were physical smaller (like Trinidad, DLH etc.). The only one would be Tarver and he was dead coming from Rocky as a Heavyweight.
And to tell the truth I don't know why it should change. Roy Jones has still faster hands and feet. The guys who beat Jones put the pressure on him and Hopkins doesn't put pressure on guys. So this is going to be pretty boring... two guys who simply wan't to win but risk nothing to get beat.
But the names will carry it and hopefully it's an big fight atnosphere... because I love the big fight atmosphere
