I don't think Canelo is going to qualify as the poster child for fairness. Kovalev, Jacobs, even Rocky Fielding got weight claused. This Tank/Garcia fight is BS but Canelo has had his share.Comment

Tank going to look very weak if he doesn't beat ryan with that clause. Potential stock plunge if he doesn't deliver what he promised...But If ryan wins boy oh boy ,lot people here will be mad as hell. LOL.Comment

Rehydration clauses should be banned by the state athletic boards on safety grounds.
If the fighter makes the greed upon contract weight, at the agreed contracted weight n time, he's "made weight".
No second weigh ins as it's just another way of deliberately trying to weaken a fighter.Comment

Here's the thing, don't sign a contract and THEN complain that you don't agree to the terms. I seem to remember a time when the weigh-in was on the day of the fight. So weighing in the day before and being limited to a 10lb rehydration clause on fight day isn't quite that bad. Anyone who says it's fair for Ryan to come to the fight weighing between a WW & JMW, just wants to see Tank lose to someone who is much bigger than him.Comment

force boxers to fight at natural weights instead of trying to take over the 24 rehydration rule.Comment

Not defending anything that doesn't need to be. Usyk moved up to heavyweight where there is no limit, that's a terrible analogy. Usyk knew that he would have to face bigger men when he made the decision to move up. Ryan was trying to make this man come up to him, AND be able to come in over 150 something. I didn't state anything about A side, I said that Tank fights at 135 and Ryan knows this. Tank wasn't asking for Garcia, but Ryan's been yelling for the fight every chance he gets. Tank fought at 140 once in his whole career and said that he's comfortable at 135. Roy Jones fought at Heavyweight once, but he wasn't going back to please a heavyweight without a belt that's calling him out. That's ridiculous, Ryan has the natural advantages, he wouldn't trade his height and reach for picking the gloves and ring size. Man up, shut up, and fight. Or fight a big name at 140, but he won't, because he won't have those advantages.Comment

Tank fought Mario Barrios at the full 140-lb limit for fvck’s sake. We haven’t forgotten.
Ryan is already going to be weakened from having to cut pounds in order to make the 136-lb catch weight. Adding a rehydration clause on top of that is just Gervonta seeking to gain every possible advantage physically come fight night.
For the record, Americans and Mexicans are having these kind of fights and nothing but. They won't fight unless they can stack the table. Tank has been waiting to pull something like this against Ryan for years. He just needed to wait until he moved up, then accept the fight with him with all the conditions.Comment

That makes both of them cheating cowards. Whoever does these kind of things, they're cowards. This fight wouldn't have happened unless Davis could sabotage Ryan. Davis has a career of loading the table just as Canelo has. It's pathetic.Comment

The Davis haters try to chastise him for fighting Garcia at a catch weight with a rehydration clause. But they say nothing about the fact that Ryan called out Tank from the highest mountain, while not even whispering the names of the other top guys in the division like Lomachenko, Haney and Stevenson. Also after his last fight, Garcia swore he wouldn't fight below 140 again, yet here we are.Last edited by daggum; 04-17-2023, 08:15 PM.Comment
