This will be a fight! I'm not sure who will win on April 15ht. IMO Zhang has the power edge, the quicker hands, and he is a southpaw. Three disadvantages that Joyce who isn't fast or defensive must endure. We could see an upset here as Joyce is not a slick boxer or defensive. His chin is good but has has not been proven vs a true puncher which Zhang is.
No, Zhang does not have the power edge. Both are slow. Joyce has the better chin and stamina of the two. I will be disappointed if this goes beyond the 7th round.

You don't judge hand speed very well nor do you judge punching power very well. Here Zhang > Joyce. Zhang might gas out like you say. OR he might be upset. We shall see if the juggernaut shows his opponent some respect early in the fight! Watch for it. If he becomes gun shy for some reason its because he doesn't want to get chined. Maybe Zhang will gas out but he has to 1 ) Be pressed hard and 2 his opponent needs to take it. Did you see the Dubois fight? Joyce was well behind in the one.Comment

he moves around the ring pretty well and closes the distance and cuts off the ring very well and that's what makes him very effective and almost makes his hand speed not matterComment

Hrgovic was legit concussed in there.Comment

So his hand speed isn't as much of an issue when the shots are not travelling far before he connects.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Just to see if Zhang can make Joyce respect him enough to not walk straight at him. No-one has been able to do that yet. Parker and Dubois threw some really great shots and got nothing out of Joyce.
The chin is real, but one day it will falter. It's always going to be interesting watching Joyce to see when it happens.Comment

This is a great match between two older models with low odometer mileage. There is much intrigue here. Anything past 35 is fair game to suddenly age overnight, even in this day and age of so-called superior nutrition. Both are well past 35. In fact, the younger of the two is the age George Foreman was when he returned for career 2.0. Many on these boards makeout Joyce as this impervious fighter with a titanium chin, and to date he's appeared that way. But consider two points. Parker almost certainly doesn't hit nearly as hard as Zhang, and Joyce seems to lack the capacity to avoid flush punches, particulary right hands. Having followed this sport since 'Manila', I've yet to see a face-first pugilist come out the way they went in. And yet, Joyce appears to be poised to get past this one and be in line for the big shot for a belt - provided they don't sit him out waiting for Father Time to do his thing. Zhang looked to have Hrgovic ready to go a few times. At the end it appeared that Zhang was near the point of packing it in, yet made it to the final bell. Can Zhang make it through a marathon? Will Joyce be able to absorb Zhang's big power, especially it it comes in combinations? This is a must-see heavyweight event.Last edited by Hooded Terror; 04-11-2023, 04:33 PM.Comment
