Facts and sadly, I see a lot of racial undertone to it. When Floyd was cherry picking and making gazillions, people say he has earned it. At this stage, I would think Canelo has earned it as well. Only fighter u can say he legitimately ducked was GGG by delaying that fight but it wasn't like GGG was chopped liver when he fought him. No doubt in my mind he will fight Benavidez but he already established his schedule (Ryder, Bivol) so I understand understand why he has to change it to placate some haters. All these guys calling him out, if it wasn't for the payday, would they be clamoring for a fight with him, I think not.

You are absolutely right. This is the same script with some variations such as Canelo avoiding so and so because this guy will wipe the floor with Canelo. Then when Canelo signs to fight so and so the script changes with so and so is not at good as this other guy and Canelo is avoiding him. This is all so silly like grade school kids talking nonsense.

It depends on your definition of elite. None of that group were great fighters, but all were among the top 3 in their division at the time. I'm certainly no Canelo fan boy, but how many other fighters face that level of opposition? Canelo seems to get judged by a different standard. People love to claim Canelo has ducked Andrade, Munguia, Charlo, etc. But honestly, what do those guys really bring to the table to interest Canelo. The only guy Canelo ever ducked was Golovkin. He delayed that fight for as long as he could.

I have never say he has duck those guys you're mentioning. Actually, andrade hasn't done $h1t in his entire career, and munguia is picking his opponents with a tweezer. The ginger did waited out ggg, there's no doubt about that. You can be the three top guys in the division, and still not elite, at that time the best was benavidez. And now you have David Morell jr too. It was a testament to how bad the division was, not how good smith, plant and saunders were.

I like Canelo. I like the fact that he came from humble beginnings and that he makes up for his athletic shortcomings with discipline and toughmindedness. Bivol is a special fighter with lots of skill and confidence. I posted on this site that Bivol could win by 9 rounds to 4 and scored the actual fight for Bivol 9 to 3. I don't know why Canelo's team picked Bivol, perhaps you are right. It was not a fight that a lot of people were clamoring for. I would like to see Canelo win if he fights Bivol again, but I think that is a bridge too far for him.
