A lot of people were saying the Bivol was a cherry pick. Even when I said that the dude has never gone on second gear, is undefeated and is naturally bigger. Canelo challenged himself by going up in weight and losing, no shame in that.

Canelo has all the titles at 168, is taking care of one of his mandatories and is a good fight for his post surgically repaired arm and ring rust. He is such at a high level that Ryder is considered such a low level fighter.

It’s fine to have a tuneup after surgery. When that tuneup also happens to be one of your mandos? That makes it even more acceptable.

Especially if Dmitry Bivol is next.

One borderline elite, bivol, the others were good domestic level fighters. Mention one elite out callum smith, plant, saunders and 40yo ggg?

I am a big Bivol fan and have been. I was afraid he would get robbed by the judges but figured he would win. I've watched the fight twice without sound and once with the commentary. After the beating Dmitry put on him the first time, I can see a KO coming in the rematch. I think Canelo is crazy for going back in there.

Canelo has a massive set of juevos if he fights Bivol at 175 again.

Reread those old posts PRIOR to the fight. I’d say it was around 90% of people on here thought Canelo was going to whip him. Some thought he was cherry picking. I wrote it wasn’t going to be an easy fight for Canelo

Ryder = Cheese Cake....and no attempted blame attaching or excuse changes that.

It depends on your definition of elite. None of that group were great fighters, but all were among the top 3 in their division at the time. I'm certainly no Canelo fan boy, but how many other fighters face that level of opposition? Canelo seems to get judged by a different standard. People love to claim Canelo has ducked Andrade, Munguia, Charlo, etc. But honestly, what do those guys really bring to the table to interest Canelo. The only guy Canelo ever ducked was Golovkin. He delayed that fight for as long as he could.

He just had surgery. Everyone takes an easy fight after surgery. Loosen you panties ladies.
Let me be the first to say this; Canelo’s fight with the Britt. Wont be as easy as he/you think it’s going to be.

60% of the posters that felt Canelo would beat Bivol came from the Canelo fan club. 30% came from more sophisticated fans that witnessed years of Canelo and his team successfully picking styles and opponents at their point of weakness. Based on past experience they assumed Canelo picked Bivol because Bivol appeared to be a slightly bigger, slower, no pop version of Plant. Personally, I never thought much of Bivol but I went back and watched Bivol's fights and I didn't see the weakness I had expected then knew it was real fight.

That said, I still don't believe Canelo picked Bivol for the challenge. Canelo simply doesn't have a history of great challenges, it's more likely that Canelo picked Bivol because he thought he was the weakest light-heavyweight and underestimated him.

As for Ryder....Ryder is there because he's an easy win. Being mandatory guarantees nothing when it comes to Canelo, Ryder is there for a KO waiting to happen.
