What happened to Ruiz vs Wilder

I know Ruiz left PBC but this seemed to be a fight that made sense. Especially after Ruiz beat Ortiz

Ruiz is still PBC,he just decided not to continue a relationship with Tom Brown/TGB promotions. It's Wilder who claimed he's the "free agent".

To answer your question though PBC wasn't willing to pay Wilder what he was looking for to fight Ruiz. Wilder then resorted to pitching his services for that fight,or any other big fight for that matter,to other promotional outfits to see if he could land a larger purse.....essentially pricing himself out,aka ducking, like Fury. Guys are 2 peas in pod.

Well it didn't necessarily make sense when Fury and Usyk were negotiating. They'd have been fighting to be mandatory to someone who was never going to fight them. And the big fight roundabout was still spinning.

We must be getting pretty close to announcements on something soon. No-one is booking fights.

That fight was cancelled when Joshua won in the Ruiz rematch, Wilders grand scheme of undisputed against him fell apart and then he fell apart on social media and had to make excuses not to fight Joshua as he said he would the winner of that fight . Wilder won’t risk much without a title now and he also has to actually act normal without one because the belt was his only selling point ,it’s either time to rebuild at this stage or ?

If he actually fought a top guy anyone on this forum wants we all know it’ll be a shocker . Lol

I wondered this as well. I wanted to see this fight, because it's such a strange clash of styles.

Given Fury just KO'ed Whyte recently, there isn't a mandatory fight due soon. Has the WBC given a deadline for this fight?

I see less interest in these big fights post-pandemic than there was pre-pandemic. Maybe people are less interested in boxing or it is the financial crunch. These boxers want the big pay-days they thought they can get and that much purse make no sense commercially any longer. Wilder perhaps wants some of the ME money before he retires against whosoever that may be. The fight with Andy in the US won't generate nearly that much even though it is a competitive fight.

Besides, Wilder may even fancy trying a different route and fighting Usyk rather than WBC and fighting Fury for a fourth time.

I honestly don't even think about Ruiz when it comes to being a 'top' Heavyweight. All he does is post on social media saying **** like 'Who do you want to see me fight next?'

I don't think he wants to fight at all.

I think both want a ridiculous amount of money and both have expressed frustration with pbc. So who knows

Easy to forget that fight was nearly a year ago!

I swear if mandatories came around as often as they should then we'd see fights getting made.

As it is you're far more chance of getting a big fight by developing brand and avoiding defeat than you are by fighting fellow contenders.

Wilder and Ruiz should have been keen to fight each other to get a crack at the title. But they know they could be a mandatory for years.
