Loma could sense Lopez's speed and power, that's why he was hesitant to engage until later in the fight, by that time to many rounds were lost. Clear win for Lopez.

Lopez had nothing to do with the win over Loma. I gave him that fight, but it could have been pretty much anyone. Loma thought he could win with one arm, and once he actually chose to use the injured arm, he gave Lopez the business. But he chose to give away 7 rounds. Lopez shouldn't even have gotten past Sandor Martin. Didn't even manage to beat his mandatory, who got absolutely destroyed by Haney, who seems to be the definition of pillowfisted.
I don't think Haney's hug game is going to work well against Loma because he's got a much more nuanced clinch game than the majority of other boxers. His game is mental, not "speed and movement." The movement happens because he's getting opponents to bite on feints, or blinding them with shots, or using hand traps, etc. Ryan Garcia is a fighter who relies on speed. Bivol is a fighter who relies on footwork and speed. Will be interesting to see how much ring rust is left. I think it's likely that Haney has more skill than just jab and grab, but if that's really all he's got and he isn't able to make adjustments, he's probably going to get wrecked badly. I don't think Loma can afford to start as slow as he usually does though, and that may cost him.BustedKnuckles

Loma lost. Teo didn't win. Loma lost. There's a difference.BustedKnuckles

I had it a draw but Loma has himself to blame. A) he said he was healthy during the lead up to the fight when he had had a bad arm and B) he started the fight too slowly for fear of getting KO'd and C) he should have had a rematch clause.Charlie Zelenoff likes this.
