Franco narrowly defeated Moloney on the scorecards to capture the title. I wouldn't classify someone with one world title bout as "a veteran with the experience of a World Champion". I think I understand Robert's decision to prioritize his newly crowned champion in a rematch over his contender. Did Ortiz Sr. doubt Pita's ability to guide his son to victory? Things ultimately turned out fine as Franco beat Moloney more decisively, and Ortiz stopped Mean Machine.
Was Ortiz showing any signs of physical deterioration at RGB? Or is Ortiz Sr. to blame for what's currently happening with Vergil?
It's not that Pita isn't a good trainer either, just that at that level it would have been preferable to assisted by the much more experienced trainer.
Robert was a professional boxer himself who held a title at 130 and trained:
-Chris Algieri
-Nonito Donaire
-Fernando Vargas
-Mikey Garcia
-Egidijus Kavaliauskas
-Marcos Maidana
-Abner Mares
-Antonio Margarito
-Kelly Pavlik
Also, he didn't show any deterioration with RGBA, if anything Robert kept him in check, since he was the first to enter the gym and leave.kiaba360 likes this.

Ortiz doesn't blow up in weight in between fights, the fight was already postponed once and we're still a month out from the fight. A point where most fighters aren't cutting a drastic amount of weight so I believe this is just a case of over exertion over a prolonged training camp.

this is like the 3rd time he has been ill. Put this in perspective. he is about the size for jermell charlo and is burning down to 147, must be killing his organs. all advantages out the window if he goes up to 154. it isnt the division he want to get hit a lot. i mean he is tailor made for a guy like fundora.Last edited by hhh1200; 03-30-2023, 03:18 AM.
