Cody Crowley is taking on Abel Ramos in the Benavidez vs Plant undercard.

This leaves Rashidi, Kavaliuskas, Butaev, Giyasov and Villa though only three out of five are in the IBF rankings.

If he takes on Maestre, Fox, James, Palmetto or Crocker. Then he is basically shooting himself on the foot, we don't know if he come back at the end of the year or not.

Villa is the most logical opponent, seeing as he just beat Ellis. However, if Ellis gets a rematch, then Ennis/Kavaliauskas would be decent. Butaev would be a decent opponent, but he's been inactive since the Stanionis fight.

I was actually looking forward to Kavaliauskas vs Butaev in the Fundora undercard, too bad it got fizzled. If Butaev won he would had been the mandatory for Vergil to protect his regular WBA belt.

Villa is the Mando for Ennis but wouldn't mind if he fought Ellis again as it be more exciting than the original considering both fighters will bring the gameplan after sizing each other up. But I prefer to see Boots take on Roiman first.

Kavaliauskas seems like a good benchmark fight for Ennis, as seen in his comeback with Fox after his loss, he isn't shot so it would tell us how Ennis stacks up as he be facing a good counterpuncher with a lot of power.

I don't think the matchmaking has been that bad, but it feels like he's behind schedule. The inactivity is a much bigger problem. If he had his last four opponents (Lipinets, Dulorme, Clayton, Chukhadzhian) in a 12 month span, he'd be fine. However, the reality is that those fights occurred in almost 21 months. The only fighter he didn't destroy was Chukhadzhian. Lipinets, Dulorme, and Clayton were 9 rounds combined.

Which doesn't look impressive compared to Stanionis, for example, who is only in his 16th fight and he's already fighting at high levels with Vergil Ortiz Jr, who himself is also only in his 20th fight.

If that's not enough pressure for Jaron "Boots" Ennis, I don't know what is. Activity is the key for me.

Ennis has less pressure on him because he hasn't won a title. I think it's important that he gets one soon because he needs the leverage. If he gets the IBF, at least he'll have a target on his back and match-ups should become easier to make.

IDK why Ennis doesn't start getting "advised" by Haymon because that seems to be the biggest thing holding up his career.
