Comments Thread For: Hearn on Joshua-Franklin: I'm Nervous, This is Not a Straightforward Fight

It should be a straight forward fight for Joshua if he wants to get back towards elite level, but? That does not demean the solid level fighter 'That Jermaine Franklin has proven he is'.
People can mock Joshua's next opponent, but at-least it was a straight forward and easy fight to make 'Franklin has been treated with respect, and has also been given plenty of notice to prepare for this fight'.
Franklin is most likely going to be in absolute peak condition, a marked increase in levels from when he fought Whyte.
This fight for Joshua is a straight forward fight in terms of the win 'I think Joshua can win this fight, by just boxing from mid-long range'.
But? I don't think that is going to be his tactics. Joshua for me is going to want to make a statement with his performance.
And to achieve that, he has to beat down Franklin and not drop a single round 'On route to a stoppage win inside the distance'.

No one cares about this fight however much Hearn tries to build up some manufactured dramatic tension over it. At the end of the day, Franklin is Bermane Stiverne 2.0. If Hearn had been smart - and if he had been willing to swallow his pride and ego over Jarrell Miller’s past actions - he would have made Miller AJ’s first comeback opponent. Instant interest, instant great story line, etc. But Hearn still seems to hold a grudge over the expenses he paid Miller that he hasn’t gotten back lol! I’m sure however much Miller “owes” Hearn pales in comparison to the amount of DAZN money Hearn seems to spend flying members of his stable - AJ, Baumgardner, Bridges, Nicholson and countless others - to hang around at DAZN fight cards that don’t appear to have anything to do with them.Last edited by Roj; 03-20-2023, 09:54 AM.

But even if AJ KOs this bum in the first round, it doesn't really mean anything.

Hearn needs to add some masculine to his statements. History is full of returning heavyweight champs that have bit down hard and returned to the win column. His fear is meal ticket extension, and it belies a lack of faith in Joshua. OR, its complete bull**** and they are propping up Franklin.

Joshua should win easily but I don't know where Joshua is mentally. Coming off two straight losses and facing an opponent who isn't supposed to present much of a challenge, his head may not be in the right place. You know Franklin will be sky high for this, limited though his abilities might be, this is a chance of a lifetime for him.
Cue the theme from Rocky 1.
