They compete in the same weight classes(s), limiting fighters to how much they can rehydrate to is a joke. Boxers make the weight the day before and then can rehydrate as much as they want between that and the fight. That’s how it’s been for 99% of fights since same day weigh ins ended.
It’s a new concept and I’m unsure as to why you’re defending it.

If the fighter makes the contracted weight, he's made the weight and that should be enough.

Marquez demanded a rehydration clause against Bradley - no one batted an eye. Canelo regularly demands rehydration clauses, and got one against Jacobs and Kovalev.
I don't think I saw a single thread about the Marquez one and almost nothing about Canelo.... but when it's Davis asking for one, the subject is completely dominating all boxing discussion online.
Why is that? Because they're desperate for Davis to lose.Last edited by paulf; 03-11-2023, 06:56 PM.Combat Talk Radio likes this.

The day before weigh in rule has created a entirely different culture in the lower weight divisions 'That never existed in past era's'.
The competition whether it is with the use of catch weights, re-hydration clauses or fighters weight draining themselves excessively 'All of this has devalued the competition and negatively effects the purity of the action'.
Davis is essentially admitting that he wants to purposely decrease Garcia's condition and performance 'And he does not want to fight him at his optimal best'
The lower weight divisions for me are a mess, I would say it is the most worst once you get down below Light Heavyweight 'It increasing then gets worst as you go down through the weight divisions'.
The toxic weight draining culture has not only been embraced by many fighters, it has also been accepted by many boxing fans 'Where they think it is normal and standard, and a behavior that has always been apart of boxing' I am telling you, it has not to this level ever been a part of boxing culture.
It is a completely modern phenomenon, that has increasing intensified under 'The day before weigh in rule'.
Fighters and even boxing fans I honestly don't think? They know what they are watching or competing against.
I have stated this before, the modern day weight draining culture is a toxic 'And it is a modern phenomenon which is endorsed and highly promoted by the day before weigh in rule'.
Note: This is still a good fight and great match making. But I don't think any titles should be sanctioned, it is just a fight in my opinion 'The re-hydration clause is completely unnecessary'.
If they fight opponents on a level playing field, they will lose like they always do. They want to create a perception that they're the best but are clearly not as they wouldn't be doing this en mass otherwise. Americans forced Mexicans into this by giving them an inferiority complex by beating them all the time. Brits forced Americans into this very same position for the same reasons.
Get every known Mexican and American you can think of and look how long opponents have been out of the ring when they face them. Look how many are coming off losses. Look how many want an opponent when they look like shlt in a previous fight. The same identity is there non stop.
They're cheating cowards who have no shame in how much they're degrading and humiliating themselves. It's basically going after fighters on life support. Haha. Fans in those countries will defend it because they know the advantages on offer. They're deeply insecure. They need to feed their fragile ego's. They can't do it in boxing on a level playing field. No matter how much they don't want to face up to it. They understand greatly. They just hope no one can see what they're up to. But you'd have to be blind and ****** not to.

This has been going on for decades in how it all operates.
