Indeed GGG's case is interesting. Sure, I can admit that a younger GGG was probably "avoided" but an older GGG after the "Canelo payday" sure got pretty comfortable with the chosen level of opposition especially with the media on his side since his HBO run.

Theres morons running the finances in boxing, they give these guys massive paydays for a very niche sport. In GGG's case they gave him huge gaurantees for DAZN but they didnt have control over WHO he fought as long as he fought and it was on DAZN... so he picked Steve Rolls and Kamil Szeremeta and was getting paid like 15 million for it. I remember they found some loop hole they could pay him half in DAZN stock and half in cash... it showed they were running out of cash even back then. Now for their poor decision they wanted to be bailed out by existing subscribers and jacked their rates up.

And crawford how he continues to get paid $10 million a fight to fight complete unknown eurobums... like how? how could that fight be profitable? didnt he sell like 50k tickets last week?

Look at HBO, they were experts on the boxing market, they had access to all their proprietary data on boxing finances going back 30 years and they decided to get out of the game and focus on chit like game of thrones, so what does that tell you, that tells you boxing isnt that profitable but somehow there are all these fly by night operations blowing through investor money. look at that Thrilla operation, their shows are a straight embarrassment. Snoop Dogg and a sloshed Oscar de la hoya announcing the fights, WTF.

There is proof of Andrade being ducked tho.

        Charlo turned down 7 mill

Munguia turned down the mandatory shot

Saunders pop dirty week of the fight and never tried to reschedule

That HBO point of yours is good.
Indeed, either Boxing was not profitabe or shows like Game of Thrones simply offered a way better ROI. I can imagine that a dollar invested in one GOT episode is a better use of money than a dollar invested in GGG, Kovalev, Bud (insert the name of whoever was at the top when HBO left the boxing game)

Now, I wonder why Showtime has not come to the same conclusion and actually stepped back into the boxing game "full steam ahead" couple of years ago.

But by that time in his career he should be allowed to set his own path. He's earned it. I'm not saying fight all the baddest goons in the land, but GGG had nothing to prove after the Canelo fight. He fought Canelo in the prime of his career while he was still near if not in his prime. And the match was, in my opinion, in his favor for majority of the night, though he had to accept a draw on the cards. GGG shouldn't have to take career ending fights just to satisfied the fans.

It's the challengers job to make themselves a value to the sport for champions to want to be in the ring with them. If you don't have a title at least be a money fight. As well through history, guys in the position of Ennis & Ortiz, they would be trying to prove that they are the next man up rather than simply claiming they are and that no opponent wants to be in the opposite corner of them.

I don't remember guys like Floyd or Oscar or Whitaker or Augustus or Duran etc....claiming even peers refused to fight them. Even those who were up and coming as they were up and coming. It's the cliche these days. And a fan like myself is simply wondering how come guys like Boots, who say it more often than not, how come he won't say who it is that has "turned down" a fight vs him.

BoMac openly said that they reached out to Ortiz's camp before making the Avaneysan fight. Bob Arum openly confirmed that he sent an offer to Porter and Danny and they turned them down....Yet, we don't see Crawford on social media or in front of a camera claiming to be a "Boogie Man"......but Boots every other sentence, he or his camp is stating people are avoiding him.....WHO? Stanionis, Ortiz, Benn, Cobbs, and Ellis are all on record of saying they wouldn't mind a fight vs Boots....has he even reached out to those camps. I doubt it.
                That's completely false.

How do you think guys like Robinson, Moore, and Pep fought 200 times.

You think they only fought other champions?

                Of course not.

Duran fought 100 times, you think he only fought champions?

You're using the eras where boxing went wrong to justify it being even worse today.

Ennis & Ortiz are universally considered top contenders.

They are highly ranked. That's why Spence & Crawford should fight them.

All this "A-Side/B-Side" nonsense started in the '80s is how we got the bullshxt sport we have now.

It's not for you decide. Whatever Espinoza said, it's for Dunkin to decide what to do next. And it appears Ennis' manager is reisgned to the idea that the fight with Spence will never happen and will just wait for Eroll to vacate the title. And things seem to be going in that direction. It's not even a secret. It's expected. Take Karen fights in the interim while waiting.

I hear you but since he did not get an "official" win vs Canelo, I feel like he could have squeezed a unification vs Charlo or an Andrade to pad his record. Like it or not, on the official record, his best win will be against Jacobs when it is all said and done.

First of all, boxing isn't even structured the same today as it was when Robinson was competing. Hell, it's structured different even when Holyfield was a big name......

An "incentive" is something that would motivate one to do something.....Robinson wasn't fighting all those opponents because of incentives....he was a prize fighter. His handlers put him in the ring and they paid him a cut from the revenue generated. Duran had 27 fights by the time he was a pro for 4 years.....Notice as his career moved along he began putting a lot more time in between bouts because this thing called NEGOTIATIONS became a big part of the sport

How TF did you take my comment as me saying they should only fight other champions?....... You are soooooo ready to debate a comment that you don't even take a second to try and comprehend what was actually said.

Ennis and Ortiz are universally highly ranked.....but so are sooo many other names like Thurman, Rocha, Avaneysan, Kavaliauskas, Ugas, etc....guys they have recently fought and/or have been rumored to be in negotiations with......which brings me back to my point......They have done nothing to deserve more than anyone else up there in the rankings. I'm not suggesting Crawford & Spence should ignore them or dismiss them, I'm just saying there are other priorities that both champions are trying to do for their legacy..... Ortiz nor Ennis have done anything to deserve them to altar their path to accommodate them.
