The business of boxing is broken and will be broken until there is a universal boxing commission (i.e. UFC) that makes guys fight guys.

there's no incentive for guys who are already champions like Crawford & Spence to fight guys like Ennis & Ortiz.

There's also no incentive for guys like Ennis & Ortiz to fight gatekeepers and contenders.

Back in the day, guys like Ennis & Ortiz would LIVE on ESPN or USA Tuesday Night Fights or ABC Wide World of Sports.

By the time those dudes got a title shot, they'd be household names with huge fan bases.

It would make since, being that Virgil has been Oscar's hype machine ever since Canelo decided to part ways. He's been marketing him hard without putting him in tough fights. Now all of a sudden he has went from being critical of Crawford to actually trying to sign him to a 3 fight deal allegedly. If he can get a talent like Crawford on the books by sacrificing the marketability of one of his unproven fighters, Rocha would be the preference over Ortiz.

Well, through history, there has never really been an "incentive" for champions to fight fighters who've accomplished nothing. It's the challengers job to make themselves a value to the sport for champions to want to be in the ring with them. If you don't have a title at least be a money fight. As well through history, guys in the position of Ennis & Ortiz, they would be trying to prove that they are the next man up rather than simply claiming they are and that no opponent wants to be in the opposite corner of them.

I don't remember guys like Floyd or Oscar or Whitaker or Augustus or Duran etc....claiming even peers refused to fight them. Even those who were up and coming as they were up and coming. It's the cliche these days. And a fan like myself is simply wondering how come guys like Boots, who say it more often than not, how come he won't say who it is that has "turned down" a fight vs him.

BoMac openly said that they reached out to Ortiz's camp before making the Avaneysan fight. Bob Arum openly confirmed that he sent an offer to Porter and Danny and they turned them down....Yet, we don't see Crawford on social media or in front of a camera claiming to be a "Boogie Man"......but Boots every other sentence, he or his camp is stating people are avoiding him.....WHO? Stanionis, Ortiz, Benn, Cobbs, and Ellis are all on record of saying they wouldn't mind a fight vs Boots....has he even reached out to those camps. I doubt it.
