See my comment above. Usyk vs Chisora sold more PPVs in the UK than Fury vs Chisora. Usyk is a popular fighter over here.
yeah, tbh i totally forgot about Chisora fight

But now the fight has moved to England, and Fury is a much bigger draw there than Usyk, so his team feel that 50/50 isn’t justified. In theory they’re probably right, its commercial value that brings money in, but it’s hard to imagine the fight being made if the split isn’t near 50/50.

The reality is Fury can sell out Wembley stadium and sell PPV’s fighting Joe Joyce, Francis Ngannou, Wilder etc, and doesn’t need to give them close to 50%. Usyk can’t get this kind of money elsewhere right now. If he doesn’t fight Fury, he’ll have to fight someone like Hrgovic for a tiny fraction of the money he would get to fight Fury.

Fury and his team understand this, and so do Usyk’s team, so that’s why Fury feels he has leverage to get a bigger split.

It’s annoying for us fans. But that’s business, people don’t give away bigger percentages than necessary if they can avoid it. Neither would you it was your money you’re investing in the event

This is the art of negotiation. I’d prefer to see 50/50 and them get in the ring. But if this fight gets made, it’ll probably because Usyk’s team have to accept they will make far more with a 40% split fighting Fury than they will with an 80% split v Hrgovic or someone

Right or wrong, that’s the reality.
Yeah fair enough. I didn't realise they negotiate separately with the Saudis. Fury should probably get 60% in that case. Usyk takes 40 and takes it out on him in the ring. If this doesn't get signed, along with the Crawford - Spence debacle, boxing should retire forever

Your points are compelling but they aren’t applicable.
Let’s say the fight doesn’t happen and Usyk fights Joyce or Wilder or Ruiz, do you think he’d make the same money as Fury fighting the same exact guys?
As kafkod pointed out correctly above:

Usyk sold more against Chisora than Fury did. IN THE UK.

So yes, Usyk against any of those guys except Wilder sells more than Fury.

Fury/Wilder will always sell more because fans know they're going to see a slugfest and epic trash talking.

Usyk/Ruiz would sell huge simply because both guys dominated Joshua. So now we need to see who is really better. Sells itself.

Joe Joyce isn't a draw in any case, but against Usyk he would gain recognition.

To be clear about I meant there ... I wasn't saying Usyk/Chisora made more money than Fury/Chisora, just that it sold more PPVs, a lot more. But Fury/Chisora sold out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while Usyk/Chisora had only a tiny live gate because of the Covid restrictions.

This I did not know about. Thank you for sharing this. I don’t want to digress but so it is actually true that PAC turned down the fight because he was PED user and didn’t want to get caught? I’m assuming that’s the reason,

More important, after a couple of losses, PAC ended not getting the 50/50 split.
Come on, multiple people including myself have been telling NSB this for years. Spoon STILL denied it. Freddie Roach was on video admitting this and half of NSB STILL denied it.

Then it was "well why does it have to be random testing?" Floyd explained in a video, if you know when they're coming, you could cheat.

Then it was the needles excuse, and Spoon ran with that despite people calling out Manny's tats.

I knew there was talk about this including the multiple excuses Manny came up with but I’d never seen an actual media source print this.
I never doubted that Manny was juicing though. Them Ariza shakes and the refusal to drug testing were enough smoking gun for me.

As much as I like Usyk, asking for a 50/50 split would be akin to Cotto asking for a 50/50 split with Floyd.
Even the immensely popular and global icon, Pacqiao couldn’t get a 50/50 split with Floyd.

It doesn’t matter if Usyk has all the four belts, Fury would be generous to give him 30%

How do you know? BT Sport don't release Fury's PPV numbers. Or are we just taking Eddie's word for it?
