The dude is from PHOENIX.
Can we ditch the phony shtick about being Mexican?
I have no respect for people who want all the fantastic benefits of being an American, but then express loyalty to another country. Imagine a Mexican fighter calling himself American!
Benavidez should renounce his American citizenship and move down there, and good riddance to another coke addict.
That's the good thing about America, you can be whoever you want. Boys can be non binary and all that junk, but Benavidez can't be Mexican?
Don't worry, you are one of those people that will call him Mexican (when he loses)..
Antonio Margarito was born in USA so was Fernando Vargas and they are Mexican. What's it to you?

Same. This is how I imagine it. Benavidez will apply lots of pressure and win the early rounds. He will likely get Plant in trouble early, but I see Plant weathering the storm, surging late and maybe even stopping Benavidez late. I suppose that sounds crazy to a lot of people, but Plant is right when he says that David's previous opponents weren't in the same universe as him. David is feeding off his own hype a bit too much these days and I think that overconfidence is going to be his undoing.Comment

I don't think that Duran cared a bit about his father who left him, and his mother high, and dry to fend for themselves.
I don't remember Duran ever talking about his Mexican heritage, he always touted his Panamanian root's which he was very proud of.
Panama also worshiped their "Manos de Piedra", one of the all time great's of boxing, and quite possibly the greatest lightweight champion of all time.
He even debuted with the nickname "El Cholo" because his community knew about his background.Last edited by Malvado; 02-10-2023, 03:00 PM.Comment
