Since they fought Ellis had only 1 fight before tonight and nothing to show for it. Rocha is headlining again later this month. Shows losses don't mean everything because his fanbase and career is way ahead of Ellis and I say that even before Ellis lost. Ellis is a cautionary tale of mismanagement and you can't blame the promoters PBC just like Golden Boy couldn't get Ellis to take big fights. That's fighter and manager pricing him out of fights.
I count eight recent examples. Including Cobbs.
Fans just want to see that. It's not about the loss, it's whether they feel like they got their money's worth and the fighters tried their hardest to entertain.

Ellis has no one to blame but himself was in total control early in the fight then played it safe letting Villa back into the fight. Has no one to blame for his career just some really bad advice, whoever in his camp that told him it was a good idea turning down big fights hoping to back into bigger payday SMHjabuppercut likes this.

It was a good fight at the start it looked like Ellis was going to box him cleanly for a wide UD, then Villa started catching him in the 2nd half of the fight and Ellis got tired. I'm a little bit mixed up on the decision I do feel that Ellis won the first 7 rounds cleanly but with those knockdowns, which could've been a knockout if the referee didn't give a 15 count, I was happy to see Villa get the win. He definitely closed out big and I don't think Ellis was extremely hurt but he was buzzed and he was dead tired.
He really listened to his corner for that 12th round he came out with bad intentions looking for the KO and nearly got it. Respect to Ellis even after getting clocked he was still throwing punches back he's still talented and I wouldn't mind seeing an immediate rematch it was a good fight.
