Jose Ramirez absolutely loathes that he is being perceived as a "ducker." The former unified junior welterweight titlist from Avenal, California, recently declined a title shot against WBC champion Regis Prograis, because he believed the terms of the purse split were unfair and not reflective of his commercial value.

His point is 1. TR is unwilling to Co-promote with Probellum. And 2. He has a purse minimum with Top Rank (around 1.5mil I believe is the number). And as it stands he can’t get Top Rank & ESPN to put in the necessary money to meet that minimum within that 35%. His other issue is that Prograis’ side has also not presented any pot/offer. So he’d be agreeing to 35% of god knows what, a complete mystery. Ramirez notes that if Prograis offers him just 1mil, he’ll accept.

So he wants Regis to raise the split, so Top Rank/ESPN can bid, and if anyone outbids them, that’s fine too, because it will be exceeding his minimum.

But basically. If he’s going to be earning more, guaranteed, vs Commey etc on Top Rank, then he’ll stay there.

But why the hell should Prograis agree to getting less money? Cause he's the nicest guy in the world or just a ****** businessman? He's the champ. That's just what it is.
