It sounds good when an announcer says "UNDEFEATED!" It adds to the mystical idea that a fighter can truly not be beaten or has not been beaten because nobody can get it done. The truth of the matter is, everyone can be beaten. EVERYONE. Though if you don't face the right guy (or at the right time), you won't have that loss(es) exposed.
I love to see a guy take his first "L". It gets it out of the way and now I can truly see what he's made of. Does he come back better? Gives up and retires? So many guys fall apart and see themselves as vulnerable. They thought they had the goods, but realize they are as mortal as everyone else and took an L. Thus they may never be the same following it. Confidence breaker, reality check.
Even Achilles took an L.
