Out of respect for what the thread is about which is honoring a good man, I 'll modify my comment and ignore the fool that came out attacking me for no reason. I don't want to detract from the goal here which is to honor a great ref.

              Damn RIP Steve Smoger.

Can we not be classless and turn this thread into a ref hating thread? Let the thread be a Steve Smoger thread. This isn’t a hate Kenny Bayless, Tony Weeks or Jay Nady thread or whatever.

"Are you ok to continue?" Boxer would be flat on the mat. Loved a Tear up.

I believe Double S was from Margate, NJ just a stones throw from Atlantic City. If I recall correctly, he was also a local county judge.

I went to alot of fight cards in AC I'm which he was a referee. His officiating style was always conducive to action-packed and violent fights. One of the fights I remember being at is the Kirkland/Tapia fight. Violent, entertaining and one could argue a bit of a late stoppage (I blame the corner of Tapia in that one).

                      RIP and Godspeed Steve.
