What the f*** are the IBF doing?

Don’t these ABC w***ers always harp on about wanting to work together to accommodate unifications.

So you have a fighter in Oleksandr Usyk who holds 3 of the 4 belts and has openly stated several times he fully intends to fight Tyson Fury early next year for the Undisputed Heavyweight Championship- the richest prize in sport, the fight the boxing public wants to see. The type of fight boxing needs after a terrible year.

Yet these f***ing idiots are trying to force him into some pointless mandatory and reportedly won’t even give him an exemption. The man won the title, then had to defend it in a contractually obligated rematch and now is targeting an undisputed fight which is slated for March 2023. Yet these IBF cretins couldn’t justify that in the interest of boxing? They couldn’t give exemption to an Undisputed Heavyweight title fight? A fight which we have never seen in the four belt era.

What a complete farce. If the IBF go through with this, I hope he pulls a Rid**** Bowe and put the belt straight in the bin where it belongs. Disgraceful.

It's not exactly new though. For decades fighters have been saying they want to unify and then mandatories get in the way.

If they wanted to unify, they would. And they'd lobby their orgs as their champion. If Usyk privately threatens to drop the belt in the trash he gives the IBF a problem. I'd like to see him do it too, but I bet he won't.

Usyk wasn't obliged to fight in a rematch. He voluntarily signed a contract that obligated him to fight in a rematch, when as a mandatory he didn't need to. He did it for money. Which I don't have an issue with, but it is what it is.

Fury said he doesn’t care about undisputed and the IBF for how they treated him as soon as he beat Wlad. So if he and Usyk still wanna fight without it being “undisputed” then Usyk should just dump the belt. Remember they stripped Fury within days because he couldn’t fight a mandatory because of the Wlad rematch clause. The rematch clause hadn’t even been exercised that quick, so they actually had no right to strip him at that point.

This stinks of Eddie Hearn. He’s super tight with the IBF. There was a time when pretty much the only champions here had were IBF title holders, it was a lot. Brook, Barker, Haskins and more, even AJ’s first shot was IBF. He always gets his fighters in good positions with the IBF specifically, obviously a lot of lobbying going on.

This is just trying to force a world title back into matchroom, preferably by someone vacating. Then eventually back into the hands of AJ. So who better than his boys at IBF to help him?

Anyone with half a brain can see what’s happening here

Agreed with all of this except nobody was getting a shot at any of AJ’s titles with a rematch clause in place. There’s a reason people call it ReMatchroom.

I don’t blame Hearn tbh, he’s doing what any promoter would do in his position. I agree this decision stinks though. Nobody benefits from it except Matchroom.

It’s the only sport in the world that consistently shoots itself in the foot.

If TYSON FURY can take a fight before undisputed, then Usyk can do so as well.

Satisfy your mandatory, Usyk...you've guys have been holding the heavyweight division hostage for too long
