Its definitely damage control, I've never seen Crawford put out so many statements, and its its all about Spence. Bud knows how this looks to the public. He didn't walk away from negotiations, he was secretly doing a back door negotiation for Avanesyen at the same time for a big payday. He chose money over legacy, with the hope that Spence will still be willing to fight him after he picks up his check from dancing with the sparring partner, so that he can get a big purse again. Shady as they come, but he has some diehard defenders on here that cover their eyes and just repeat whatever bullshxt he spits out.
It was crickets chirping from Team Spence, for weeks. The carpet was pulled-out from beneath them. Crawford may lack negotiation polish, but he was up front, back in June about lacing the mitts up by December, at the latest. Spence is no joke and the A-side, as I see it. But labelling Crawford the B-side doesn't do him justice. I'd call him an A-minus side, or 60/40 split....with some fair play required. Fair play? How about that transparency that Crawford required? Four months on, wheels still spinning at Team Spence, a press conference expressing some worry, then next thing we all know Crawford IS hitting the Prom but with a new partner. Date of the Prom? December. As specified BEFORE last summer.
Lets all put away our Kleenex and hold masculine. The bad mouthing of one over the other isn't man-stuff. The bad mouthing of other members, ditto.
Now lets wait and see what Spence will do. He's a fine fighter. He deserves a big moment and something more than some of the recent criticism from the other side, given his hard work, over years.
I am a fan of both men. I'll take them any way I can.
I'm VERY curious of Spence' next move.....and if it will be within the next 3 months.

So, what's the name of the so-called big money hedge fund owners or managers, and why was Crawford not willing to give the names, especially since a $50 million guaranteed split would need to be researched by Haymon if he were to allow them into the business of the fight? Also, when in negotiations to determine undisputed, why would Crawford secretly negotiate another fight at the same time? And in being transparent, shouldn't he have let Spence and his team know this? I, too, am a fan of both, but I favor Errol as the better fighter with more dog in him, and based upon Bud's recent actions, I was right to think so. The difference between him fighting for undisputed history and legacy in February or January is miles apart from fighting a warm body for big bucks in December because he said he would fight that month.
Crawford apparently OK'd all points but asked for financial transparency from Team Spence. He didn't get it. The clock was ticking and he moved on.
Relative to the walk-away, Crawford's claim (wild or not) on a guaranteed $50 million but refusing to name the backers, such is grist for the mill. The invisible Haymon failed to satisfy Crawford, hence fans as well.
I'm not bitter about the outcome, nor did I ever really believe the fight would get made given Crawford's pride and less than advantageous position. That said, Haymon and Team Spence had the power to make the fight, and at the very least, lost control of the situation. There is zero proof that this is all Crawford's fault. I do find it curious that Crawford was prepped with a plan B and Team Spence was caught off guard and are now looking at facing somebody Spence himself vowed to never fight.
Undisputed is in a very real sense, is a fans nightmare. Endless mandatories. Lots of wheelspin On the other hand, I applaud Spence for working through belt after belt. Like you I am a fan of both. Who do I believe would have won? I'm really not sure. I could argue for or against either man. In his last showing, Crawford caught and stopped Porter, a man Spence edged in a terrific war a few years back. Off of that, many wondered aloud if Crawford was a cut better than Spence off of that win, but I personally wonder how much resistance and piss Spence took out of Porter in their encounter. Crawford may have faced a tenderized version of Porter.
And Spence' last fight. Many stated aloud that Spence looked great, the best he had in years. Me? Close. I saw things in that battle that make me think he would defeat Crawford and I saw something else that alarmed me and could have spelled TAPS if a tiger like Crawford had of been in with him.
No matter how we size it up, it ain't gonna happen. It is what I forecast it would be last summer, based on gut; Bowe/Lewis Redux
Rebelrbg - you are a good sport with a keen eye. Indulge me. How would Spence/Crawford do with Boots, right now off of each man's latest performance?Last edited by Hooded Terror; 11-16-2022, 04:02 PM.

Ok, so fair enough, even though I disagree with the we have zero proof about whose fault it is, I'm going to indulge in your question. Crawford said Ennis would be an interesting war. Both fighters have a knack for being lax in their defense when trying to gain control of the offense. Both fighters have a large toolbox of offensive weapons that they pull from, using movement, angles, precise counters, and timing. They also both have the ability to switch in and out of orthodox and southpaw. Crawford normally goes to southpaw once he hits his killswitch and is looking to do the most damage, Boots, on the other hand, uses the switch to set a trap and will switch back for the finishing blows. I feel like the size of Ennis will give Bud fits, whenever Crawford gets hit with something good, he's always on a mission to land something clean back, so its inevitable that a war will take place. I haven't seen anyone with the power of Bud land on Ennis yet, so I don't know how it would affect him, but my gut instinct tells me that Boots' punches might have more damage on Crawford than vice versa because of his size and Bud's chin.
Now, Ennis and Spence is a completely different fight. Spence is a natural southpaw that loves to break his man down using his quick, strong jab, combinations, and especially body punches. He mixes power shots with effective counters and movement from angles that keep his opponent from getting off first, and throws in volume, while keeping a tight defense. Boots and Spence are about the same size, but I would give the edge in strength to Errol. The switch hitting of Boots may keep Spence a little bit more honest in his approach early, but due to Ennis' defensive lapses, with Spence doubling the jab upstairs and to the body, he will eventually find a home for his power punches. Boots will be game to exchange, but Spence 's defense is upper level, and his chin is great when looking at the way he shakes off blows from champions that he has faced
Danny, Porter, Mikey, a prime Brooks, nor Ugas, except for the rookie mistake of looking for his mouthpiece, could hurt him. I see Spence methodically breaking Boots down and frustrating him with his timing and volume. In the later rounds, it will be much like the Ugas fight, and Errol might KO him or get the ref to step in.
