Thurman has enough in the tank to school the young guns Ortiz and possibly Boots in a close one, but Spence or Crawford would be a different storyComment

He's only lost one fight, just because he has been inactive, we forget that this was one of the most feared men in the division. I don't see anything that Ortiz has on the same level as Thurman. Keef has much better defense, footwork, power, stiff jabs, good combinations from angles, set ups and traps for the uppercuts whether inside or outside, great counters... He's just a better all around boxer than Virgil with experience against champions. I 'm not even a fan, but I find myself defending him on here often because the way people underappreciate his skillset, power, and talent.Comment

Well said, you have to remember most on this site are on a popularity bandwagon with little attention to skillset, talent or experience. You don't have to be a fan of a fighter to acknowledge his abilties over your preferred fighter. Been a fan since the 60's and this popularity thing, along with internet sensationalism, 15 belts per division, the best fights not being made due to promoter, network and sanctioning bodies Greed is ruining the sport I love so much its sad. It was lot more definitive on who was better back in the day because they all fought each other and got rematches if it was close thats what made the great ones great and a loss not defining greatness, it was just iron sharpening ironComment

I doubt it, Thurman uses movement, while Ortiz just marches forward. Virgil blocks punches with his face, and Thurman has enough power to get him out of there with that horrible defense. McKinson was tapping Ortiz up the whole fight and had him visibly frustrated in his corner, but he possesses zero power which is why Ortiz eventually walked through to get the KO. Keith is a veteran with major pop in his punches, great IQ, punch selections, and footwork. It would get ugly for Virgil.Comment
