My point about Top Rank is, why did Oscar, Floyd, Cotto, Mikey, Pacquiao, and Crawford all leave Top Rank? Why all the lawsuits, or threats of lawsuits? If they're so great, why did all the Superstars haul ass up outta there?
Wilders(who GBP discovered/developed)recent ppv did 17 buys homeboy how the hell is he a "superstar" lol ?? Tank and Spence are far from that status as well. There are only 2 superstars currently in this sport and they are Canelo and Joshua with Canelo being developed by Oscar/GB. Then there's Ryan Garcia, another fighter developed by GBP. A win over Tank and Ryan Garcia, like him or not, surpasses all those cats at PBC you mentioned in one fell swoop.

As far as why they left, probably because they knew they were at the point they could promote themselves, cut out the middleman,TR,and reap the benefits financially which they were successful in doing. How successful do you think Wilder,Spence,Tank and can't believe you mentioned the Charlo bros lol,but for the sake of it let's throw them in...would be without a promoter? Not very imo.

Oscar was not the man at GBP, when GBP fighters were on SHO. Richard Schaefer and Al Haymon were the ones running things! Bernard Hopkins exposed the whole game! Canelo left Oscar for a reason!

Hopkins on His Golden Boy Status, Schaefer's Departure

"At the end of the day, you become a figurehead when you war not physically active in the business, which means the office...the day by day negotiations, signing fighters, making fights, dealing with the ups and downs, dealing with the shenanigans, the rumors...all things that come with being on the frontline as the CEO, who has to manage the operation. Everyone knows, everyone knows, it's no secret. Oscar would have to be honest on who ran the company. Oscar would admit that he had some ups and downs, more downs that affected him from being in the office, but that's not Richard's fault," Hopkins said.

"And that's where Richard's credibility comes in, because he didn't keep the company just afloat, he kept it on top and there's a difference. Again, it's going to be very hard for anybody to say that Richard Schaefer, from the day he began with the company until the day he announced his exit, was not one of the key promoters of our time. That's going to be hard for anyone to discredit him for that..."

"The best way to learn [on the business side] is to be around the best. If I'm a young fighter I want to suck this sponge up, I'll go to a Bernard Hopkins or a Floyd Mayweather, or an Oscar De La Hoya or a Felix Trinidad or a Joe Calzaghe. The point of me saying that is this - I know who ran the company and I know how it benefited from that. Why would I not want to set my allegiance to people who I know for sure that I could trust and that is Richard Schaefer and Al Haymon."

Remember, Oscar didn't even attend Mayweather vs. Canelo!!! You're giving to much credit to Oscar, when it was Schaefer and Haymon who were running things!

      • De la Hoya wasnt even part of this fight or negotiations, that is why he is so annoying and people cant stand the guy, he got to get his two cents in something he dont even know about because he want to throw shade at Haymond for stealing his fighters 10 years ago.

This, De la Cokehead was high and drunk all the time, he was a figurehead for the company and that is about it. Richard ran the company and Oscar was too high to notice none of his contracts were getting renewed. His fighters would have never been "stolen" if he was actually involved, he would know to renew their contract, its a basic function of being a promoter. Arum is 80 ***ing years old and he never misses a contract renewal opportunity to keep his guys trapped.

However you are giving him credit for someone else's work, and B-Hop, not just anybody, B-Hop is pointing out that it was Schaefer and Haymon that built GBP!

He hired the team so I'm not understanding your reasoning on why he shouldn't be given credit? Does Jerry Krausse not get credit for building the 90's Bulls? Robert Kraft for the Patriots?

It dont matter tbh. Gbp wouldve been able to make the fight happen imo. Dlh has always been the figurehead, everyone knows that. It was his team that made shi.t happen.

And who wouldnt be upset with somebody stealing their fighters? You wouldnt?
