Since when did fighting once a year become "beneficial and preferred"? Mayweather fought 6 times from 36-38. If you aren't fighting often enough to keep your fangs sharp, you'll eventually wind up losing or looking bad against a nobody. In Loma's case, he literally went to war. I can understand an off night after coming outta hell, straight into the ring.

He was 36 in 2014 and fought 4 fights by 38 and only because he had a contract with Showtime for big money. Prior to that he was 1x/year.

As you get older, it's literally common knowledge to fight once a year. Your body heals so much slower and being too active puts on unnecessary miles. Training camps are extremely grueling.

Loma is naturally much smaller guy than Floyd, and started much later. It’s one thing to be 130 at age 20 than to be 130 at age 30.

It dont matter what age he started. He said loma fighting at 135 is like floyd fighting at 160 or ward fighting at heavyweight. He compared a 9 pound jump to a 25 to 30 pound jump.

his style is based on reflexes which go with age. the handspeed doesnt matter, look at RJJ he still had fast hands but the timing was gone.

the blue print was out there to just outwork loma, now when he was younger and at lower weights guys wouldnt open up as easily on him because they were afraid of counters but at 135 there are guys willing to eat a counter if needed, they arent afraid of his shots at 135 anymore.

no these young guys like Teofimo and Jermaine Ortiz are very talented and they can match his Athleticism so all that Matrix stuff if you notice is not as effective vs Someone as Athletic and as good of Footwork

Also too I notice it is this little DIP that Teofimo kept doing and even Jermaine Ortiz did it last night, when they did it for some reason...Loma would back out and reset it is very interesting but not everybody can pick up on stuff like that you have to know WTF you're watching

They are not matching his athleticism or skill lol. They're able to overcome the skill disparity because of the size advantage they hold. Why couldn't Russell,Walter's and Rigo who were just as,if not more skilled than guys like Teo and Ortiz just do the same then??

Naw they matched his Athleticism for sure all the fancy Footwork they was able to do all that right with Loma, maybe not the Skill true indeed but they was able to move just as quick and as well. Damn we can't even give credit to his opponents for being able to move as well as he did

by the way Russell Jr is still one of Loma's toughest fight that wasn't easy and yes Gary was able to match the athleticism in fact he was Faster than Loma BUT Loma beat him with Timing
