  • Comments Thread For: Welcome Back, Deontay. But You're Still Not a Hall of Famer

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Deontay Wilder is fighting this weekend. But it's OK if you hadn't heard. After all, it's on the same night as the lightweight title rematch between Devin Haney and George Kambosos Jr., a fight that's gotten (and deserves) more attention.

Wilder is going in the HOF due to the weakness of this current era.

Dude, Arturo freakin' Gatti is in the Hall of Fame. Anyone that's held a strap and been in a big fight is eligible these days.

These current-era boxing writers are so bad. They write about the world they wish existed, not the one we live in.

Wilder HOF for beating who? His best win was Stiverne and 40yr old Ortiz.

Having stopped Gamache, Millett and Ruelas, Gatti arguably has better wins than Wilder. Can argue that anyone in the hall does.

Wilder is still a good fighter and will be remembered fifty years from now for his devastating knockout power.

Besides, he is still writing a new chapter of his book in his boxing career.

So it’s a bit premature to close the door on his ring accomplishments and achievements.

In any case, that was a very good read though. Kudos to the writer of this article.

Wilder is definitely going to the hall of fame.that said. If he can pick off Usyk for those titles then that would close his career
