Between his fight with Lubin and this fight, saying he is not elite is a fair assessment. 6’5” with an 80” reach, I expect him to be more like Paul Williams. I expect a guy that tall, long, to throw a ton of punches from long range at his much shorter opponent and eventually overwhelm them with a TKO. With his height/reach and where he fights (154), Fundora shouldn’t even be getting touched. And if he is touched, I expect his opponent to pay for it with 10 punches.
Unless 154 becomes really bad, I don’t see him going too far.
I don't disagree with anything you say. I have had reservations about Fundora since he first started appearing on PBC undercards. I thought he was more of a spectacle than a prospect. I kept expecting him to be "exposed" but he kept winning those fights.
I don't consider him elite but I'm not sure there are many elite fighters at 154 (other than possibly Charlo). Fundora has holes in his game. I'd like to see him be more defensively responsible and I'd like to see him fight from a distance more often. Be selective when he wants to **** on the inside.
I don't think he beats Charlo (bad matchup style wise) but I think he's probably at least a pick'em 50/50 for anyone else at 154.
Fighting Fundora is so unusual that you need to fight unlike you’ve ever fought before when facing him. This requires a level of adaptability and making adjustments on the fly that ensures not every top ten guy can hang with him.
