This thread full of excuses as per usual.

Toney went as far as he could go. He beat some
good fighters, lost to some, also lost to some unranked fighters in his prime years.

He never beat a top fighter in dominant fashion in his entire career.
I don't think he was over-rated. He knocked a guy out going backwards, he will sit in front of an active puncher and was able to deflect punches and hit. He had other talents that could had made him great.

Even Jones say that everything he was trying on him was not working and got him to imitate his rooster stance so he could hit him. That was an out of shape Toney that showed up in that fight but he has only himself to blame.

Top win but far from dominant.

Toney was a baby when we fought Nunn though, that was an impressive win. Nunn was on top of the world before that.

I didn’t say it wasn’t an impressive win, it was.

It was just far from dominant.

Roy Jones totally schooled him whilst in first gear for the entire fight.

And Toney was no more “out of shape” for any other fight he had in his career.

                  He's not a "waste"

                  Tony Ayala was a waste
                  Lamar Parks was a waste
                  Bernard Mays was a waste

Toney's a great, he's just not an all-time great and he should have been.
