  • His punch selection and hand speed were as important to this victory as his durability.
    You must be joking, huh?

But Parker is still a world-class heavyweight. He showed great hand speed...
Are you sure?! Cuz this was the slowest Parker ever.

the reality is that Joyce is third in line for that fight behind Daniel Dubois and Filip Hrgovic, mandatories for the WBA and IBF
Glad to see someone understands it cuz Warren is persuading the whole world that WBO mando is next despite WBO mando-Usyk- being the last mando to those belts.

    • Post-fight. . . Joyce's face looks okay . . . . Parker looks like he's been through a trainwreck.

The best decision his handlers can take is put him in with the best of best right now before that happens. I say he has 3-4 fights before his chin fails him!

He takes way too much head shots, it will inevitably accumulate sooner or later.
This!!!! Thank you - was going to post something similar. It is ACCUMULATIVE. I was a big fan of Jarrett Hurd - he looked indomitable at 154 because he took a punch to land one but eventually I think it was Julian Williams who stepped in the ring at the right time and took a win - now Hurd has all but disappeared and he is only 32 years old

        • Well done to Joyce, a powerhouse.

That was the worst shape I've seen Parker in, even though he did win a few rounds, but that wasn't the Parker that fought Ruiz and Joshua.

Joyce does look rather slow and clumsy at times, but he's deceptively good and has a powerful jab. He just walks down most opponents, and he broke Parker down.

I don't see Joyce having any chance against Fury, and Usyk is oo slick for him. He might have a fair chance against AJ, but I think Joshua's a bit better.

I think Joyce probably beats up Wilder. It would be interesting to see him against young prospect Anderson, but Joyce is in line for a title shot next. Another interesting fight would be Joyce vs Frank Sanchez, the Cuban who is pretty slick.

            Struggled? Like Usyk did?

In reality he doesn't, at least he doesn't to any degree that it should be a major concern. He took far fewer in this fight than Wilder took against Fury in their 3rd outing for instance, and less than Ruiz took in the Joshua rematch, fewer even than what Usyk took from Joshua... and Parker took far more than all of them.

There could be a threshold to the power that Joyce can withstand.

Soon as that threshold is reached? He will show it. There was signs of him being bothered by Dubois power.

Joyce is most likely going to fight again, before his title fight. Because that could be sometime away.

I wonder what opponent he would face, probably just a tick over fight.

                • If Usyk is available for early 2023, surely Warren will do all he can to get that fight for Joyce.

                  • Wow! Yes! That was a very entertaining fight. Parker is so tough. That was Joyce's best performance. Great win for Joyce!

                    • I didn't think Joyce could stop Parker. I stand corrected. Joyce will definitely be top-5. I can see him being outboxed by people like Fury and Usyk and most likely being stopped by Wilder
