Those are opinions for the most part.

The gameplan seemed to be to weather the early rounds and pour it on late and hope for a KO. I think that much was clear. I didn't see any domination man. What was the clearest round for Canelo that you had?

I don't remember every round but I saw a chess match fight for most of the early rounds. Even a glance at compubox, which I felt was way off for GGG in a few rounds, Canelo outlanded GGG by 13-9 in round 6. That was his biggest margin. Just an example.
I'll have to watch it again but I remember the 5th being quite a big round for Canelo. He was pretty dominant from 3 - 8, was in control, looked comfortable while GGG seemed cautious/frustrated and couldn't really get going. By "dominant" I don't mean he was giving him an absolute beatdown, I just mean he was in control and fighting on his terms.

I just saw a lot of rounds where GGG was trying to outbox and win behind the jab - which is the correct way to do things in general really. And Canelo was trying to win by slipping the jab and landing power shots.

Canelo isn't the easiest guy to hit, and counters very well, so GGG was rightfully cautious to throw a lot of right hands. The openings weren't really there for him.

If he looked old I'd be the first to say it, but I didn't see that. Obviously he is aging some but overall he still fights the same way. Behind the jab and cautiously when he has a strong puncher in front of him.

He tries to break you down and usually does with his volume and stamina. You don't go 500 fights or whatever without getting stopped or dropped by fighting reckless.

If he was getting pummeled 30 to 5 in 5 or 6 rounds tonight I would say he should hang them up. But overall I thought it was a good effort from him tonight. I had it close but I'll have to score it sometime soon.

I wouldn't necessarily say he looked old but rather fought too cautiously which cost him. I think he'll watch that back and feel like he could've done more, Banks definitely thinks that going off his instructions during the fight.

I understand that Canelo counters well but that didn't stop GGG in the first two fights. Yeah, there definitely has to be an element of caution but his jab just wasn't there tonight when he needed it and when he finally got it going it was too late. He seemed to show Canelo too much respect and I don't think he'll come away thinking he did everything he could to get the win.

Yeah I don't know, I enjoyed it. I could see both guys really thinking in there. I wish it would go 15 rounds or even 20, and then you'd actually get a real winner probably by that point.

But time will tell as far as how done GGG is. I wouldn't write him off yet, but at the same time I'm not sure what options there are for him that are really worth his time at this point.

I didn't see Loma-Lopez or Hagler-SRL tonight - where Loma Hagler couldn't get going until it was too late. I saw a boxing match for the first 8 rounds and then Canelo's stamina gave out and GGG looked a bit more like himself. But he still was in the first 8 rounds. Not saying he won most of even many of them but I thought it was a competitive fight.

He generally has a high output and lands a lot of punches, but will also take 5 or 6 clear (not necessarily hard, but clear) shots in any given round too.

Those who have issues with scoring, or an agenda, can find a way to ignore the punches GGG lands and just focus on the punches he takes.

Honestly it's very odd for me to see because I'd think honest people would have an easy time scoring rounds for him in most fights. He just lands very often and clean generally speaking.
              Here you go again
Fughin amazing for someone who didn’t score the fight but GGG got his nuts so far down your throat you can actually be Franky aka bodybagz who’s got Canelo’s nuts in a deep throat
If they both go away , Canelo and GGG , will you follow ?
Medication costs , please do and take Franky with you

He still has some fights left in him but I can't help but feel disappointed in his career. I genuinely wanted him to get a signature win on his record, a "name" that people can cite when it's all said and done, and I feel that the third Canelo fight was his last chance and to me, he blew it. I wasn't even expecting him to win but I was expecting him to leave it all in there like the last two fights, give us a classic trilogy. Yeah, not all fights are approached in the same way but this was a legacy fight for GGG, I was expecting him to go to war but he played chess instead.

I enjoy those type of fights too but in my opinion it was the wrong approach. He's had some decent wins and a good career overall but he'll never have that "name" on his record which will hurt his historical standing in the sport.

Just trying to rationalize why people seem to get it so wrong imo with GGG fights and how they score rounds. You always get so upset if/when I post anything pro-GGG. It's really weird to be honest.

As I've said before, I think most of you are far too emotional about fights and fighters to even analyze any of it correctly.

Yeah I disagree overall. I think he had a top level career. He certainly won the first 2 Canelo fights in my eyes, so those are 2 good wins in my book. I don't really care about an official win or loss. It's all about what you see with your own eyes. For me he was a very durable, high volume, hard punching guy with great stamina and one of the best jabs I've ever seen. As expected with those attributes, he was really hard to look good against and won a lot more rounds than he lost.
