Coincidentally enough, his power seem to have increased once he switched to his NBNL gloves. All those years with his Everlast gloves and he didn't do the kind of damage he does now but once he switched, suddenly things changed. Those gloves have hardly any padding in the knuckles and mixed with Canelo stacking his wraps, makes for a "harder" punch. -
He beat Saunders and Callum Smith clearly, two guys you said he'd duck/lose to so there's that.
You also said you'd leave the forum if Bivol beat Canelo yet you're still here being the same clown.

Canelo has respectable power but not some devastating puncher especially at the weights he is at.
If he upped his volume a bit more he would very likely have more stoppages. But compared to Golovkin at middle weight, Golovkin was the bigger puncher and at 175 Beterbiev, even Gvozdyk, Kovalev & Stevenson were bigger punchers in there prime.Comment

He is an 'explosive puncher with above average power'
First to KO Plant
Stopped BJS
KOed Kovalev
Yildrim
Liam Smith - Who is tough as old boots
Punched hard enough for Callum Smith to not take risks
He's definitely a puncherComment

The glove will not make that much difference, the impact a car hits something doesn't change the force because it has a tin bumper or a steel bullbar, the force pushing the impact doesn't change, Canelos power went up in line with weight, long-term training and maturity with the opponent's level being also in the equation.Coincidentally enough, his power seem to have increased once he switched to his NBNL gloves. Canelo punches hard, and nobody wants to get caught clean because they will know they got hit.Comment

It is not a myth, Alvarez has solid punching power.
But he is not a monster puncher. The media did seem to incessantly go on about his power as if? He was a all-time great puncher.
It is his sharpness of punches, and supreme technique which amplify his power.
If you really analyse his fights, he is not a monster puncher.
Carl Froch punches with more power than Canelo Alvarez, and probably hits harder then Golovkin also.
I don't rate Alvarez as a power puncher. He has stopped fighters in this era at middle weight, because they are below par.
Alvarez's power would not really threaten fighters like Calzaghe or Froch 'They had faced bigger punchers'.
Saunders, Plant, both Smith's they are all getting stopped or ****** out by Carl Froch. And Joe Calzaghe would most likely stop them via heavy bombardment.
Canelo Alvarez is a great fighter in today's era, but he has been able to reach this level due to the terrain being under par. The middle-weight & Super Middle Weight Divisions, really did drop off soon after Calzaghe's retirement, and then it dropped even more below par when Carl Froch retired etc.

Sure, he's a solid puncher but it's clear the gloves make a difference or else why the switch. Having less padding in the gloves will certainly hurt more than having pillow gloves. Would you rather get hit with normal gloves or ones where the knuckle makes more contact?

It’s hard stopping guys at the high levels, Canelo is a solid puncher but it’s not easy stopping elite level fighters.Comment
