For those that still prefer boxing over UFC, why?

I was far more into boxing growing up and over the years. But around 8 years ago watch both. Probably slightly favour the UFC.

Reason being is, every few months they'll be a notable card with at least 3 fights - if not for THE division belt it's to be the next contender.

Same thing happening for boxing, less often, and maybe for ONE of the divisions belts, so it has less meaning. Same goes if they'll be a contender for winning, you don't know, because for what ABC belt, when, against who, and who knows if it'll be skipped over.

In the UFC you are excited to follow guys because you'll find out exactly how they fare against the elite. Not always the case for boxing sadly.

Hes even done the same little twist where he makes it obvious his original intention was just to bait people to **** on MMA and then join in himself. Lol.
This is my first thread ever on this board. Sorry you think I’m someone else.

No. After he knocks out Silvia and McGregor, he will knock out Mayweather.

He’s going to be fighting Whittaker for the third time now even though they first 2 were conclusive

There just isn’t that much talent
Its not so much a lack of talent as it is that talent actually fighting each other. Its easy to avoid rematches when the big fights dont even happen the first time.

          Adesanya is fighting Pereira next.

UFC fights are on average far more entertaining and violent. Its rare to see a great boxing action fight but in UFC is normal. Plus UFC delivers constant big events with stacked cards, and fights almost monthly. Last weeks fight night was a ppv level free event while boxing even has total trash as PPV. Boxing has been left behind and is just relying on legacy.

              I disagree somewhat

I think with boxing (especially in the smaller weight classes) you have so many divisions that once you’ve become the number 1 you can move up and have a whole new crop of talent to test yourself against.

Because there are fewer weight divisions in UFC it’s much more common for fighters to to stay at a weight class for most (if not their entire careers). This can limit the number of new and legit challengers.

Look at Usman for example. He’s too big for 155 and too small for 185. So he stuck fighting rematches against guys he’s beaten comfortably.

I also think because of grappling moving up in weight is significantly more challenging.

I think with Usman the only truly bad rematch he had was the Jorge fight, and we all know that that (just like the first fight tbh) was all about money and the UFC striking while the iron was hot with Jorge, which from a commercial perspective I dont blame them really. The Colby rematch was perfectly reasonable, there was a lot of bad blood and the first fight was a FOTY contender and much more competitive than Usman fights typically are. As for the Leon fight, if anything the UFC stalled giving Leon a title shot for ages, there was SEVEN YEARS between Leon/Usman 1 and 2, and Leon hadnt lost since that. Iirc the first fight was also relatively competitive too.

I say it whenever these threads come up - boxing at its best is better, but MMA is at its best much more often.

Boxing got greedy with its PPV’s. Companies saw how much money Mayweather was bringing in fighting nobodies on PPV and just decided to charge for cards with decent known names. Last night’s card was decent if it was free. Charging for it was criminal.
