For those that still prefer boxing over UFC, why?

wait, so after 155 in UFC, it’s 185?? That’s the next division?? Wtf
I disagree somewhat
I think with boxing (especially in the smaller weight classes) you have so many divisions that once you’ve become the number 1 you can move up and have a whole new crop of talent to test yourself against.
Because there are fewer weight divisions in UFC it’s much more common for fighters to to stay at a weight class for most (if not their entire careers). This can limit the number of new and legit challengers.
Look at Usman for example. He’s too big for 155 and too small for 185. So he stuck fighting rematches against guys he’s beaten comfortably.
I also think because of grappling moving up in weight is significantly more challenging.

Boxing has more of a history and a legacy since it’s been around so long. That kind of thing tends to draw me in.
I also tried watching a few UFC fights in a row on Espn +, but each one I clicked on kept ending in the first or second round with one guy getting pinned to the ground and beaten until the ref puts an end to it.
With boxing, there seems to be a greater chance for drama and seesaw momentum.Comment

I have nothing against MMA and actually enjoy a good back and forth grappling match. I grew up with nothing but brothers so throwing hands and wrestling was something we always did as competition among each other probably once a week.
All of us boxed in some capacity through the amateurs and one of us wrestled competitively during school.
But overall my family prefers boxing. It's was our primary sport growing up and from a live spectator perspective we find it more enjoyable compared to MMA. Not to say that a really good MMA match is not enjoyable but those are a little more difficult to come by from experience. Though it may be because my first live MMA event was Edgar-Maynard 3 which sort of left a high bar for others.
Also the individual nature of boxing. MMA in particular the UFC feels too machine like ove rather past few years with the uniforms and structure. I know some people prefer that maybe but to me it strips away the identity of a fighter.Comment

So you are complaining there are too many stoppages? lol. The drama and momentum changes in mma is insane. Literally so many ways to change a fights momentum. How often do you see dramatic boxing fights? Most of the time they are sparring sessions.Boxing has more of a history and a legacy since it’s been around so long. That kind of thing tends to draw me in.
