For those that still prefer boxing over UFC, why?

You tribalistic morons know you don't have to choose, right?

You can watch more than one combat sport.

You are right, but almost everyone prefers one more than the other. Someone could like both, but favor boxing or MMA.

I will say that UFC tends to match guys more evenly. Part of that is because UFC is a top tier league, unlike boxing that doesn’t have leagues. The closest thing boxing has to a league is the promotional outfits.

I just can’t appreciate the ground game in UFC. It just looks so foreign to me and visually unappealing. Boring. UFC is only marginally entertaining in its stand up striking position. Even then, striking looks awful when compared to boxing because most of those guys don’t specialize in striking or they are guarding against other things, so their form is different. Even guys with a boxing background in UFC don’t look great striking.

Don’t get me wrong if I get invited out to a party for a UFC card, I’ll attend and watch. I might only be half paying attention, but I’ll still go and watch.

I’ll never go out of my way to watch or follow UFC though. And their weight classes are different, so that throws me off right there.

Boxers are far more talented IMO. Not saying MMA fighters aren’t talented by any stretch but you get guys who can’t strike, can’t wrestle etc and they’re still very successful. You barely get any boxers who aren’t well rounded. Being a great boxer requires a higher level of skill IMO.

Can’t speak for all, but I wrestled in HS and boxed as an amateur. The boxing was much more diverse and a lot more to learn imo. Boxing just holds a special place in my heart. It is different when you must engage and rely on your hands only, I know we use all of our body, but nothing like the art of war. UFC seems to just be a variety of specialty’s versus honing that one true desire of mastering the squared circle. It’s much more polished than MMA. It’s just the promotional outfits and the different forums that keep boxing from having great fights continuously. UFC is a monopoly where they make the best fight the best. That the only thing they have over boxing in my humble opinion.

I don`t have time to do that. I have chosen boxing and I have zero interest for UFC.
