Why is Wilder no longer with Showtime?

You all remember when Wilder was waxing poetic about the value of loyalty,
even mentioning Floyd being with the right people as justification to turning down
and ignoring DAZN's multi million dollar offers.

Then Showtime Espinoza suddenly no longer want any part of Wilder's fights.
Which was strange because they're the ones who promoted the Bronze Bomber from day one.
CBS even added some weight to it.

Just imagine if this happened in the UK. There'll be hundreds of articles
squeezing every drop of detail out of the story. It's still a mystery here in the US.

Who really cares? It was obvious SHO couldn't compete with the same offers thrown around by DAZN.

If you ask me, I'd rather see purses go back to their normal levels. I see Wilder getting around $900K in the Helenius fight, for example. That's more manageable to negotiate if you're one of these networks' executives.

That's the PBC/Showtime MO. If you lose, then you have no market value. It's a network and promotional company embodying the Floyd Mayweather Jr. effect.

Market forces will dictate the purses levels.

No. Wilder was still undefeated when Showtime dropped him.

Showtime's Espinoza: Wilder-Ortiz PPV 'Deal Didn’t Make Sense For Us'
          https://www.boxingscene.com/showtime...nse-us--142822

So then with Fox becoming their one and only option, you'd expect Wilder's team
making significant adjustments for their unrealistic demands. Hence, Fox would be
too ****** to give them their original demands knowing they have no other choices.

That's interesting. I always assumed it happened after he lost to Fury. Fox is about to get out of the boxing business after this year, I think. Do they still have fights lined up for 2023?

Yeah. I agree. I think that's one aspect that's hurting the sport, that the top boxer's financial demands are too much. Guys are getting overpaid. I'm definitely one for guys getting paid as much as possible, but Haymon has ruined things with his unreasonable purse demands, setting up a precedent that guys should be making multimillions when they fight.

              This is a lie.

Fox and Showtime have shared Wilder for many years.

PBC's contract with FOX requires them to provide FOX with four pay-per-views per year. Usually heavyweights when possible as FOX feels heavyweights benefit the most from promotion on FOX during football games.

Unfortunately for regular networks, DAZN is not based on traditional business models. They don't mind being charitable and ****** at this point.

Any insight as to whether FOX will continue/invest into PBC beyond the end of the year?

You could be right on that aspect, but it's obvious when Wilder was talking about
loyalty, and then Floyd being on the right team, he's thinking of Showtime, not Fox.
