Someone who doesn't know how rounds are scored. With a 1 knockdown deficit in a fight, you need to win 7 rounds which is a 114-113 result.

Without the knockdown, winning 7 rounds results in a 115-113 result.

I can see why it would be Ward's proudest fight. He moved up in weight to fight a feared puncher. Most people in his position would crumble after getting knocked down in the 2nd but he held his nerve, made the necessary adjustments and won.

Kovalev won the first fight so convincingly that there was really no need for a rematch. Other than the Froch win Ward has few wins without controversy, he drained Dawson, cut Kesler with a butt, for some bogus reason, would not face Dirrel,.Ward is not a bad commentator though.

It was the moment he realised he had clout. He got gifted a fight against a guy with solid backing and a very high profile...and knew that from that point his backers were powerful enough to keep his 0 intact til he retired.

Kovalev's best win was 49 years old Hopkins. LOL

I watched the first fight at a packed Dave and Busters. Most of those in attendance had Kovalev winning before the official scores were announced. I score fights. Although I felt Ward got beat up, he won more rounds. You award a fight to the fighter that wins the most rounds/points. Not to the guy who merely beats his opponent up. I told everyone at Dave and Busters, "Don't be surprised if Ward won; I got him on points".

And the second fight was Ward. I admire how he spoke with confidence before the rematch. He kept telling the world that Kovalev felt his power in the first fight. He said he can tell when someone feels a punch. He said he was gonna stop Kovalev. And that's what he did, despite the poor job referee Tony Weeks did. Ward was going to eventually stop Kovalev, even if Weeks did the right things during that fight. Ward was an admirable, dirty/good fighter. He did what it took to win. He didn't back down from no one. And he beat them all. He's one of my favorite boxers of all time.

If he thought he won, then why did he give Kovalev a rematch? The world saw Kovalev win and pressured him to fight him again. Just like Clenelo and GGG
Lmao he gave him a rematch because it was close. Fighters don't always give rematches when they get a gift decision i.e Whitaker/Chavez
