It’s bizarre the way Ruiz’s performance is being ignored. Fans are speaking of Ruiz as if he’s fresh off the AJ win and Ortiz is fresh off the Wilder loss.

Also Ortiz is probably taking this fight way more seriously than Ruiz. Idk the odds for this fight but I see Ruiz as the underdog, just my opinion.
In addition, this attitude of Andy is fatalistic. To be fat is one thing. To let it play in your mind, like its wrong and then quit trying, thats another. Say he's doing the best he can and let it go.

People getting it all wrong, Andy is saying he’s just preparing to battle and doesn’t care about what he looks like aesthetically. What’s wrong with that?

The “Fat Andy” story arch has gotten him this far plus it’s part of his marketability. As long as he avoids being “Morbidly Obese Andy” ala AJ rematch hes fine. It’s still a modern mystery how that grotesque version of Andy still went all 12 against Anthony Joshua, blows my mind to this day. He was so preoccupied in looking the part in his last fight against Arreola that he got rocked hard and looked a bit off. Just focus on beating Ortiz man, you gave the right mentality.

Fans who were/are picking Ruiz is probably based on them thinking he’s going to come in shape and well conditioned and Ortiz being “old”, and also the bizarre notion that Ruiz looked better vs Arreola than Ortiz looked vs Charles.

Ruiz is eliminating the “in-shape/conditioned” portion of it and now those picking Ruiz is solely based on Ortiz being old and his performance over Martin. A TKO win where he suffered two KD’s vs a big puncher, a taller, longer guy. And the KD’s happened because Ortiz was clearly going for him. This man is 42 and going right into the fire vs an opponent with 28 wins and 25 KO’s and who’s taller and longer than he is. Ruiz has none of these attributes. He won’t even be the bigger puncher.

Maybe that will wake him up to reality.
He has a Kapha system, Kaphas have a difficult time with losing weight. Easy for me but my system (Pitta) has the best metabolism. So I get it a bit too.

But yes I see a lot of wasted talent, wondering if fighting twice a year is the reason for so many fighters turning 30 and realizing the boat has sailed.

The odds for Ortiz winning by knockout are around 6.50. Very tempting, to say the least.

I think he has the right attitude here. Tain for function not aesthetics.

Not a body contest, but it is a stamina contest. If he looks like shy against Ortiz he can kiss any big paydays goodbye.

He's right, it's not a contest of who has the best body.

Look at Fury, not a physical specimen like Joshua, but the best heavyweight.

Still, 280+ lbs is way too heavy for Andy, so he knows he can't not train as for the AJ rematch. 260 lbs might be okay for him.

I'd love to see you call Andy Ruiz a slob to his face on fight night. This is proof you've never stepped foot in a boxing gym. It's easy to be critical behind a keyboard.

Ruiz needs to lose tons of fat and put on muscle, that way he'll be much stronger.
